The Winter Camping Season is upon us and here is the video of my First Hot tent camp of the New Winter.
I've been Hot tenting during the Winter for the last 3 years now.
In this video I was using a Modified One Tigris Iron wall tent which has a snow skirt sewn in around the base, this cuts down on draughts and makes the tent so much warmer.
I used my folding titanium wood stove for heat and cooking.

That Buffalo jacket certainly is very good, but the manufacturers designed it to be worn against the skin, with nothing underneath. It wicks extremely well & is windproof to 50mph. When you get hot, simply open the side zips to ventilate, rather than take it off.Nice video, thanks for posting..

Very nice video of a very nice camp Sandy. Your set up out in the "Enchanted Forest", the forest with the magic beer tree. I always enjoy watching you using all of that old school camping equipment. The old stove and the lantern are a very tried and true method of bringing some simple comfort out in the woodlands. No need for expensive throw away fuel cannisters for your cooking or source of area lighting. Thanks for allowing us to join you on another adventure my friend. See you on the next one.

I really liked and found this video very relaxing Sandy! I was surprised by your Svea 123....I have used the stove and others like it over the years....Optimus 8R, Optimus 111 and MSR stoves. My Optimus 8R is 50 years old this year and the others just a bit younger. Here in the US it is getting very hard to get parts for the Svea and Optimus stoves. I don't find the ROAR of these stoves upsetting, in fact it is very comforting to hear this jet roar on a cold winter morning. To prime them I use an eyedropper. BTW one of my favorite things to make on these little demons is PIZZA! Thanks for a great post!!!

Sandy, I wasn't anticipating that dark humor ("humour" 😄) at 22:24! Took me a second to get over the surprise and begin to chuckle. But at 22:30, I was already laughing before you uttered the expected "Maybe not." Among human beings' redeeming traits are compassion and humor. My late father was bedridden for a year with emphysema, cared for at home by my mother alone. I was working a critical job 2000 miles away and did not realize how poor his condition was until just a couple weeks before the end. Using up every bit of leave I had available, I got home to visit; but I didn't ask many of the questions I would have liked because many of those related to his wartime experiences* and my father's concern was to discuss financial arrangements for my mother. A night or two before I had to return to work, Mother and I were visiting with Dad when Mom grew chilled and crawled into the small bed with Dad to warm up. As she did so, Dad let out a yelp! "What the heck?" I asked. "She goosed me!" was Dad's reply. Now, anyone knowing my mother would understand that it was not very damn likely that Mom had deliberately goosed my father. That was just my Dad cracking funny about three days before he died. My late mother spent seventeen years grieving before her end came -- I did get her home to that same room for the last week of her life. * As a heavy machine gunner (MOS 605) in 163rd Engineer (C) Battalion, Dad spent some time camping in your country. His outfit was encamped at Over Norton prior to The Invasion. Commencing at Utah Beach a few days after that momentous event, Dad and company got to tour and "camp" their way across France, Germany and Austria for the next several months, though the adventure was not without its challenges that included foul weather and a few previous campers and local residents resentful of their presence.

Sandy, if they sold pure bliss in a can, that camp out would be what it looks like! Absolutely loved that! Ps, as mentioned before, I have same woodswalker and also not keen on how it fits the chimney. Been trying to think of a mod... Maybe 3 small metal corner brackets screwed to the chimney connector, then butterfly bolts to the stove? Just as additional support. I may try that. And film it.
@WiltshireMan
@WiltshireMan 7 ай бұрын
Hi Micky, thats interesting. I see that woodwalker have upgraded their stoves now to a better design. I still love my little stove though and think it has a lot of life left in it. I cut a small piece of steel to put in the bottom where the coals rest, I think this should prolong the life of the stove

@@WiltshireMan I couldn't find where to get in touch with the company to see if they sell the upgrade part, can't afford a new stove. It's a great little stove mind. I may have to mold it. .. steel on the bottom sounds like a good mod idea.

I’ve never really understood the leave no trace philosophy, take plastic and rubbish of course, even remove other bits but ruffling up the ground to put leaves back seems like pandering to other people, and a bit un necessary. Wild animals don’t worry about leaving no trace, you’re entitled to live with nature same as the owls and the other wild creatures. Anyway, I went to bed feeling rather unwell, and watched this to relax a bit and I have to say you’re wonderful outlook on life perked me up no end, I’ll get a good nights sleep now. Thank you, and may you keep it up for many years to come. Thank you, Rich 😊

Thanks Sandy. I’m so jealous 😂🤣😂 I can’t get out in my hot hammock tent until Feb I’ve got a tent just like your one but I find it to small really with a stove in it but my hammock tent I can stand up in it. Great video loved the time lapse. Stay safe riding. 👍👍

Hi Ed, I'm sure the woods will still be there in Feb and the way that time flies these days it will soon be February once again

Hi Donna, I always try to keep the camps as simple as possible as the kit all has to be carried in and back out again. Glaad you enjoyed the video :) Sandy

Nicely done Sandy. A lot of kit for one night, but very comfy looking. A good way to recharge your batteries. I like the look of the Svea 123, sounds like a pulse engine. All part of the fun. Take care and best wishes Al

Thanks Al, the Svea is a lovely classic stove but can be a bit of a faff getting going. Everyone should have one though:)

Thanks Tony, I enjoyed filming this one, I used a Hover air X1 drone for some of the shots. Not cheap but a valuable tool for the creator

@WiltshireMan yes it looked good I've a dji Pro but so rarely use I used to carry and yes once or twice get it up lol but often not bother and not allowed on dartmoor and all regulated now which needed due to idiots like I said in one vid too lazy too lol 😅 you put to good use that looks a nice alternative type of camp A subscriber once offered a woodland that his relative owned for me to camp in but nothing ever came of it sadly. I did find some Cheddar trees not cheese 😆 recently and have thought about forest of Dean but the pigs bore worry me a bit Take care
