Very nice video of a very nice camp Sandy. Your set up out in the "Enchanted Forest", the forest with the magic beer tree. I always enjoy watching you using all of that old school camping equipment. The old stove and the lantern are a very tried and true method of bringing some simple comfort out in the woodlands. No need for expensive throw away fuel cannisters for your cooking or source of area lighting. Thanks for allowing us to join you on another adventure my friend. See you on the next one.

Sandy, if they sold pure bliss in a can, that camp out would be what it looks like! Absolutely loved that! Ps, as mentioned before, I have same woodswalker and also not keen on how it fits the chimney. Been trying to think of a mod... Maybe 3 small metal corner brackets screwed to the chimney connector, then butterfly bolts to the stove? Just as additional support. I may try that. And film it.
@WiltshireMan Жыл бұрын
Hi Micky, thats interesting. I see that woodwalker have upgraded their stoves now to a better design. I still love my little stove though and think it has a lot of life left in it. I cut a small piece of steel to put in the bottom where the coals rest, I think this should prolong the life of the stove
@Micky-74-v6f Жыл бұрын
@@WiltshireMan I couldn't find where to get in touch with the company to see if they sell the upgrade part, can't afford a new stove. It's a great little stove mind. I may have to mold it. .. steel on the bottom sounds like a good mod idea.

I really liked and found this video very relaxing Sandy! I was surprised by your Svea 123....I have used the stove and others like it over the years....Optimus 8R, Optimus 111 and MSR stoves. My Optimus 8R is 50 years old this year and the others just a bit younger. Here in the US it is getting very hard to get parts for the Svea and Optimus stoves. I don't find the ROAR of these stoves upsetting, in fact it is very comforting to hear this jet roar on a cold winter morning. To prime them I use an eyedropper. BTW one of my favorite things to make on these little demons is PIZZA! Thanks for a great post!!!

Sandy, I wasn't anticipating that dark humor ("humour" 😄) at 22:24! Took me a second to get over the surprise and begin to chuckle. But at 22:30, I was already laughing before you uttered the expected "Maybe not." Among human beings' redeeming traits are compassion and humor. My late father was bedridden for a year with emphysema, cared for at home by my mother alone. I was working a critical job 2000 miles away and did not realize how poor his condition was until just a couple weeks before the end. Using up every bit of leave I had available, I got home to visit; but I didn't ask many of the questions I would have liked because many of those related to his wartime experiences* and my father's concern was to discuss financial arrangements for my mother. A night or two before I had to return to work, Mother and I were visiting with Dad when Mom grew chilled and crawled into the small bed with Dad to warm up. As she did so, Dad let out a yelp! "What the heck?" I asked. "She goosed me!" was Dad's reply. Now, anyone knowing my mother would understand that it was not very damn likely that Mom had deliberately goosed my father. That was just my Dad cracking funny about three days before he died. My late mother spent seventeen years grieving before her end came -- I did get her home to that same room for the last week of her life. * As a heavy machine gunner (MOS 605) in 163rd Engineer (C) Battalion, Dad spent some time camping in your country. His outfit was encamped at Over Norton prior to The Invasion. Commencing at Utah Beach a few days after that momentous event, Dad and company got to tour and "camp" their way across France, Germany and Austria for the next several months, though the adventure was not without its challenges that included foul weather and a few previous campers and local residents resentful of their presence.

I used that model of stove for many many years as my backpacking cooking stove. I wish now that I had kept it for nostalgia reasons however, though not as a working stove.

@@WiltshireMan lol I agree whole heartedly. Connie bought me an old antique optimus 8R stove that I highly value. I remember camping with a buddy when we were kids and he always borrowed his dad's optimus 8R while I used my SVEA 123. I also found me an old antique Radius No42 stove at a thrift store for just a couple bucks. It is a great working stove. I have never seen one like that before or since. No idea how much it is worth in money but it is worth a lot to me because of it's age and functionality.

In my little haven I get to hear them a lot, along with deer, badgers and fox, Oh and unfortunately the odd motorbike or car being abused! Couldn't help but have a chuckle when you went for a wander at night for a beer, places certainly do look different at night that's for sure, even places you may know.. Lovely to hear the owls, Buddy and I often camp in some woods near a canal and hear them hooting. We're out tonight, only in the garden, testing out the winter gear that's been stored for a while, it's -2 but all good so far 👌 May I ask what settings you used for the GoPro time-lapse? It looked brilliant. Thanks for sharing. Take care All the best D & B 👍

I Love these Videos Sandy, I like to see how you go about the actual Camp, setting up etc, I wish I could do it a bit too old now, small camper van now but i improvise where i can, you forgot to put in the comments below where we fellow campers can find the Beer Trees or are they only native to the Wiltshire area, best wishes, Colin.
