Amazingly comprehensive advice 😊 I have the Helsport Varanger 8-10 and love it. Can be a bit hot in summer with only one door though but not really meant for that. Pitch it easily solo and it won budge for weeks.

I'm not sure I've thanked you before, but I wish to do so. I hammock-camp most of the year, but in really cold weather, especially if I have a buddy or two who (like me) only have a 3-season underquilt, I have switched to Luxe 4P and a Winnerwell stove for the winter. With that much weight, I pulk/sled it in, but it is increasing my time in the woods (I've been out 33 nights since the first week of April, and my season is ending here in western PA). Your reviews really helped me with some of my purchases, and I really appreciate a young man like you (I am a 66-year-old college professor) sharing your wisdom with me. Thank you.

This was an incredibly informative video, I wish I would have had it years ago. While not new to the outdoors, I wish I would have taken the time to keep up with some of the newer gear, it really would have made my life easier. It's also nice seeing someone the same height as me: that really helps put things into perspective, literally🤙. I'm looking forward to seeing you do a ton of hot tenting this winter, as I prepare for a one year, solo off grid stay in the high Pennsylvania mountains, hopefully beginning Spring of 2021. Thanks for the video, I'm looking forward to many more. Stay safe out there and God bless!

The Manta tent has a half inner mesh incert, both options actually, I find it quite versatile. I also love the proper canvas bell tents, especially for hot family tenting over 3-4 days. Here in the UK we have a company that makes 3m bell tents without the center pole, so the space inside can be organised as you wish.

The main benefit of cotton canvas for winter camping/hot tenting is the increased air permeability (breathability) of the fabric. This helps quite a bit with condensation. With nylon/polyester tents you can get liners, but then the weight of that combo approaches that of the canvas tent of the same size. The free standing tent still has to be secured to the ground if there is no snow to put on the snow flaps. For putting tent pegs into frozen ground, I find landscape spikes (large common nails) in the 8" to 12" range work well. Just don't pound them in all the way, to remove them give them a tap to break the grip the ground has on the peg. If you had your choice, would you take the Nortent tipi 6 or the OneTigris Roc Shield or Solo Homestead?

these tents are awesome. especially the nortent gamme 4. if i ever got so much as an ember on that silnylon, i would be seeing red. those onetigris shelters are much cheaper, and wouldn't mind so much if they needed a patch here and there. onetigris also has a hammock shelter that sets up with a ridgeline, which LW902 has loads of content on which should not be overlooked when exploring starter shelter options. i even saw a canvas hammock shelter on amazon with his logo! how have i not heard of him until now? he really knows his shit

two years old ago, I know, but .. I have seen you use a tent like Hileberg, or a two person tent having a stove hole out of the front. Also, you can try stuffing steel wool in the arrester cap up top of the pipe. 9volt and steel wool gives fire starter.

I have the gamme6, first tent I bought after a very long and hard amount of research and comparison. I've pared it with the large winnerwell woodlander, and the tent heats up very fast and is very warm. I would have liked to see a better spark arrestor on the pipe and might try and figure that out myself or possibly purchase another section of pipe, because when burning wood some sparks would still land on the tent. The sill nylon does not seem to be a easy to burn as you've mentioned, still not a single.hole for all the sparks, bit I don't want to test the theory.

Love your videos! Down here in Alabama we have very few opportunities where we could use a hot tent or I would definitely looking for one of these. I’m with you on the snakes. I live in west Texas, and have literally seen rattlesnakes moving on snow in January. I would definitely be worried about snakes drawing to the heat of a stove. I would surely get an inner mesh with a floor!

Hi Jeremy, thanks very much for the video, very informative and you brought up a lot of good points I didn't think of. I can only afford so much too. I like my Iron Wall but it is a bit small, I went with it for my first tent because it was affordable, like you said. I hope my ammo can stove will be sufficient to heat it up until I can afford another stove. I was thinking of buying the Knico Trekker it isn't titanium but it's half the price. As of now I plan on weekend trips and either truck camping or using a pulk sled to haul the stove. Can't wait for your other videos on the subject since it's new to me. Take care buddy.

Hey, I’ve been watching your videos for a few weeks now and I’m trying to figure out what should be my first winter tent. I’ve backpack in the south about 10 times over the course of a year and now I’m up here in North Dakota. I don’t know if I want to backpack or pull a sled. And if it’s just gonna be me possibly a dog maybe another person at most for the winter, or if I just wanna head solo for now. I know a lot of these questions can be answered before deciding which tent. What do you think?

I'm not a fan of luxe customer service. I have had many people tell me they have had terrible service.

Hey Jeremy ! I’m looking to buy my first Hot tent setup and I need something pretty big (6person) since I want to bring my dog and my girlfriend with me with a stove ! The second one in your video looks to be the Onetigris rock fortress but I can’t find any of your reviews on this model, am I wrong with the model ?

What would be a good hot tent for 4people. With a floor liner to protect against water. Never had a hot tent before but thinking about getting one for a trip to alaska.

Great videos, I am interested in an all-weather hot tent with room for 3 people plus the stove.
