I'm honestly just disheartened with seemingly being led astray by Hot Toys' Sideshow promotional photos, which looked exactly like the DX09, but with better paint applications. However, what we got looks like a mesh between Val Kilmer and The Flash's Michael Keaton Batman, with more so leaning on the former (no disrespect). HT had the base with the DX09, and it was the perfect opportunity for people that missed out 10+ years ago to own this piece. I feel most people that collect Hot Toys is for the accuracy of the on-screen characters in a 1/6 scale collectible, but this one makes me a bit sad. I wouldn't even mind the avocado suit if the face was '89 Michael Keaton. But for the people that have the 2.0 and enjoy it, more power to them. Fingers crossed that the Batman Returns 2.0 will hold true to its predecessor.

@@KOMHoy yea definitely a bit disappointed by this fig. If only they got the sculpt right this would have been perfect but nope. The flash batman looks so much better, the sculpt in that one does look like keaton under the cowl, but unfortunately this one does not. Like u, I too hope the 92 is much better but I am not holding my breath there for that one either.

Hey, off topic but DC related. Have you seen that Chaos Studio Superman? It Has Muff Toys headsculps i think. Super buff and looks pretty amazing to me, and not too high of a price. You planning on picking it up for review?

@@toys210 I am tempted. I'm not even a big fan of Superman, but that one just looks super badass...he just looks like an absolute beast! ...but I might hold off and hope that their second release is maybe a Frank Miller Batman 🤞

@@AnthandoFX is still a good fig, the sculpt is just not as impressive as some of the stuff I have seen recently from hot toys

Incredible review and figure. I honestly think this figure will grow on you, but I agree with the face sculpt and I don’t like the velvety cape. The pleather/leather cape looks light years better.

@@philleotardo8760 yea I think so too, not perfect but not a horrible batman fig either. Just a bit disappointed but from certain angles he seems pretty good too under certain lighting conditions but in a way I feel like that's cheating too lol cos if it's a good sculpt it should look good in any lighting for the most part.

Totally agree it does not look like michael keaton. Terrible figure i will stick to my 1989 batman neca 1/4th scale figure. I've lost faith in hot toys!

@@PAUL-MH yea the fact that some of the newer figures look so much like their counterparts, I don't know why a 2.0 would not look like the actor. Is a bit disappointing for sure

Awesome & congrats. That's what I need an awesome Batman upgrade not necessarily a Keaton Batman. Just got in the Batmobile still waiting on my copy.

@@toys210 Yes the reissued version from Sideshow pulled up into the garage two weeks ago. As you know its the same mold minus the armored shell cover. I had to have it to pair with 89 and or the upcoming advanced suite which I am very excited about.

Honestly I think they both look a little bit weird. when you did the comparison the lightbulb head looking original almost made me choke laughing 😂 I do think the smiling sculp is probably the best of all 3 and maybe even the best of the old ones too just because it's wider...but it's a smile! who is going to display batman smiling? Lol It wouldn't be so bad if hot toys figures weren't 400 bucks now.

@@KORNdog1986 lol yea I never noticed how much of a light bulb the cowl was until I put them up side by side lol. Yea I agree they both aren't perfect. I am sure eventually we will seeva 3.0 lol. Yea their stuff are crazy now that's why I stopped with hot toys and only focus on batman and some that are on discount.

It's not a perfect figure but since I don't own a Hot Toys 89 Batman I'm so happy to have this thing. The diorama is spectacular and the battle damaged face plate is by far the best and does look like Keaton to me. The dimpled suit is a serious question mark but at the end of the day I'm overlooking that. The cape is not plether, which is probably good and it flows really good, which I am super happy about. I think for those who own the original, this is a downgrade in most respects, but for someone like me, I'm so happy to have this, but I do wonder why they made certain decisions.

@@TheCollectorCave yea when I first saw it I was not happy how the sculpts turned out but man, after I looked at them side by side they did update quite a bit cos the old cowl just not the right shape but the new one also has flaws but yea like you said, definitely a good fig for anyone who didn't get the original one. From some of those lower up corner angles you do see a pretty good likeness of keaton but not as good as some of the other figures they Bern sculpting recently

@@toys210 Yeah the side by side was really nice. The old one doesn't look as good now for some reason. Just wish the new one had better face sculpts. Also, I'm not sure which bat symbol is more accurate. Didn't realize those were different until the side by side.

So when you mean his face sculpt needs a more square structure, do you mean like fill in the cowl more to show no openings? Because it was like that in the movie. They didn’t size the cowl as accurately as they did when making the 92 Returns Batsuit. In terms of likeness, I see what you mean. Maybe they’ll update it like they did the Mark 85 Tony Stark heads sculpt. But anyways, shitty ass figure yeah? Shit Batman? 😂

@@ClaytonPZ I guess the mouth piece should have been squared out a bit more, like the jawline needed to be a bit wider, I think that would have made the sculpt a bit better. I still like this fig, is a good fig with lots of improvements but just not an accurate keaton batman
