For many of your videos, we need part 2 and 3. My intrusive thought is that I don't want others to look at my collection (who aren't collectors of sixth scale figures) and make nasty comments that might influence me in a negative way. It happened to me once or twice before. Took me a while to get back to myself afterwards, well, maybe 3 days but it sure seemed longer than that. I will use the solutions discussed in your videos to overcome this and enjoy my figures more often in the moment like you suggested. Right now, I'm only using them from time to time and I'd like to use them on a daily basis. This will enhance the quality of my life. Thank you.

You gotta learn how not to care about others opinions about you. First time I got judged was when I was 14 and bought that Disney Hercules figure . It was on a trip with my class and they all laughed at me for “ still playing with dolls “. I chose not to care , I didn’t care , showed them I can be way cooler than them and still “ play with dolls “ and in later years, when they wanted to go to the night clubs I had access to even though I was still a teen , I rejected them . You gotta learn not to care , and reject those who don’t accept and value you for you . I’d choose my collection any day over any fake friend out there . Don’t need such , don’t keep such .

My biggest intrusive thought was I need to have a little bit of everything in the collection I need everything in 1/6 form and people won’t like a collection if it’s just one theme or property. I realized I had so many figures without companions and they stuck out like a sore thumb because I thought I needed it but sadly felt like my collection was all over the place. Now since then I’ve committed to collecting what truly makes me happy so Star Wars and LOTR are what I’m collecting moving forward and I love it!

I think FOMO as an intrusive thought can be one of the most destructive aspects to a collector's experience and if not managed well can lead to burnout. If we slap the pre-order button on everything we might have FOMO about, you can suddenly have thousands of dollars worth of pre-orders before you even realize it and now you're in trouble. I think it's okay to occasionally have a FOMO purchase or an impulse buy here and there because spontaneity can be very enjoyable as a collector within moderation. But for the average Hot Toys collector, I think it is far more beneficial to your overall situation if we're more deliberate and meticulous about what we're buying and when. A tidy and well curated display with an overall theme is far more appealing to look at as opposed to a cluttered, nonsensical mess, and I try to buy according to that philosophy. (But even I broke that rule with the latest Jack Sparrow drop)

Well said! To me, I like to imagine Hot Toys as moles in the garden; we spend so much time stressing over one issue that by the time you've solved it another two have popped up. We need to let go and either accept the peaks and troughs of the mole hills (the fluctuating market value) or just take the correct step and trick the moles by telling them the floor is lava (lie to potential buyers about the rarity). Call it the Harrison Ford paradox; he destroyed a value figure but because he did it in the right context the value likely dramatically increased. It's not that we shouldn't damage our figures, it's that we should damage them in a dramatic and comical fashion.

This comment is all me 100%. My 8 year old daughter will inherit my entire collection of statues, figures, etc. Happy she actually into these characters of mine knowing she won’t sell them off. At least not the ones that mean the most to me. I couldn’t care less of value when I have zero intentions of selling any of them. When you’re selective of what you want you don’t want to part with any of them.

My intrusive thought right now is sell off the collection. I brought new cases to accommodate my growing collection. As soon as they were in I started down sizing. I released half the figures I didn't even want anymore. And just lately I considered selling off my whole collection because I wasn't happy. After really thinking about I realised it's not that I'm bored it's just my collecting approach as changed. I use to buy whatever I liked at the time, now I'm a lot more methodical. I've brought Carnage, Inart Joker and Jazzinc Batmobile in the last 2 and a bit years. That's it! Sometimes you have to unpick what's going on up there

The pleather thing is really getting on my nerves. And I’m not alone. Lots of people are sick of it at this point. My Vol 1 Star Lord is just absolutely wrecked. These companies know that we hate pleather and that they CAN substitute it for pliable rubbery material (in the case of boots and gloves and belts/straps, heck even some panels of specific suits) that can be painted to replicate the look of leather. Or even just use the real deal, when it comes to coats and such.

All helpful tips - thank you for sharing them! For me, an intrusive thought I have concerns wanting to get the "definitive" version of a particular character. I prefer having only one version of a character, but there is always some concern lingering after finally pulling the trigger on one that a version I'll like more may be around the corner.

Great video bro, really helps put things into perspective. I can be obsessive over completing a line of characters which leads to the habit of reflexively checking HT's and InArt's FB pages for new announcements. Right now I'm fixating on when we'll get an AOTC Kenobi, especially after seeing Justin's amazing custom. The plus side is I've worked out the end game for my collection at least insofar as what characters I want represented in it. Whether I ever get them all and whether I'll need to keep buying updated versions are the intrusive thoughts. I just need to learn to appreciate what I have more and spend less time focusing on what I don't have.

Intrusive thought 1: After seeing Justin's collection tour and seeing how he completes lines, I feel I should do the same cause I have a small Endgame shelf that only has Thanos and the OG 6 Avengers. I have everyone's Endgame outfit except Thor and Black Widow - they're represented by Infinity War Thor and solo movie Widow. Because of how slicked back her hair is, to me, the figure kinda looks like a bobble head. And I cannot justify paying retail or even the discounted price Sideshow does for bro Thor cause that's not the "definitive" looking Thor. BUT it bothers me that they aren't all Endgame. Intrusive thought 2: I should sell my entire collection, even if it breaks my heart, so I no longer have to divert funds to this hobby that I love because prices for everything else are ridiculous and I can't even buy 5 things from Costco without going over $100

Yes i have a huge fear with my figures especially being someone who doesn't have alot of money. I cant afford to fix them or buy new ones like i accidentally broke a scarlet witch accessory and pulled black panther 2.0 wrist Peg out and had a panic attack almost
