Personally, I like it when there isn’t a head sculpt of someone because it gives it either a sense of anonymity and/or a fantasy depiction of oneself if they so choose!! That’s the beauty of collecting these figures IMHO - the fantasy/role-play that’s involved!!! Let your Geek Side Show :D

The paint detail on the body and choice of rubber for it looks amazing. I’m hoping HT will be taking advantage of the tooling for this guy, which I’m sure they will, and make us a comic accurate Venom that will appear in the next Spiderman PS5 game.

I really dig this figure. I’ve always been a symbiote fan but this figure is especially nice. The purplish blue gloss on the body looks incredible, the eye pain is spot on and realistic, and those metallic eyes on the base are such a great choice! Might end up picking this up at some point with hopes of a new carnage figure when the second movie comes out…

Hi Justin! Wow, the artwork on this box is the best I've seen for a dark color palette. You are right about the size of the figure and the base is so nice looking. For a base that doesn't feature a ton of colors, it sure does look nice. I have no idea how they are able to create accessories accurately for a figure like this. After all, from what we have seen this character does, it always changes somehow in size and configuration. Many of the moves by the character are done when it's in human form in the movies as a comic relief somewhat so seeing Venom full-on as a figure that is more permanent is nice. Venom is such an unusual character, his attitude and comments are overall jarring and offbeat. His tongue and teeth look good in the figure but that tongue feels overwhelming sometimes. That beautiful black figure is very appealing. he's got a perfectly strong-looking body and it's attractive but it's funny to see him like this because he is so menacing. That mindless stare on his head is scary. his head looks a bit small to me for some reason. I'm not sure what the proportion to his head is supposed to look like so it might be perfect. Hes also a shiny wet type of character, so flowy with his movements which seem almost arched and I also can't see the joints. Can't believe that they were able to hide those joints. the tentacles don't have the same life that the body has. but the attachments ti the hands, specifically the weapons look fantastic. Yes, the head with the tongue sculpt reminds me so much of a different character (not Venom) from my favorite comic book. Overall this figure is great and is a good rendition and interpretation of a character that isn't easy to recreate. Thanks for the video :)

I fell in love with this figure thanks to the promo pics but the blogger pics upon its release left me so disillusioned I briefly thought about canceling. But thanks to KZbin reviews, especially this one, I'm once again a believer. I would've gladly traded in all of the tentacles and the weapon accessories for a half-Tom Hardy/half-Venom headsculpt and a few more hands. For some reason, I'm enamored by the pointing finger left hand. I don't mind whatsoever that there isn't a spider symbol on the chest, it wouldn't have been accurate and, I daresay, would've detracted from the overall look. This figure is a winner.

Yeah… that is one totally DOPE looking Venom figure IMO! 😲 But I'm just wondering, though… especially considering how much easier and far less complicated it is to swap out the different heads and tongues, as they make use of magnetic connections, why wouldn't they just implement that same technique for attaching/removing the other accessories as well? Where, instead of being stuck with the complex mechanics of any type of physical joint (that for one, only offers a limited range of movements, but can also loosen or even break over time), you could have it with the hands and tentacles too… like maybe some strategically placed, subdermal magnets (neodymium) that would ultimately serve as a replacement for the current peg-and-hole configuration, or even needing any of those special plugs to cover up the holes! Whatcha think about that idea?! Awesome, right?!? 😏

Great review Justin of an amazing looking figure! 🙌🏽 i ordered this day 1 when it was announced as I knew Hot Toys would knock it out of the park as they typically do! 💪🏽 I actually like the swap out tentacles on the back myself 🤷🏽‍♂️ I think it looks cool. I just need to find a nice diorama display that he can hang from when posing with another figure. I’m also good with this not having the spidey symbol on it. These figures usually have a progression, hopefully after Venom 2 we will get a new Venom with a Tom Hardy head sculpt / body 2 pack and if he encounters Spider-Man, then they can add the logo. I’ll get them both! 😜 Size comparison looks on point too. Awesome addition to the collection! 10/10 for me! Thank you for taking the time to share this review of this beast of a figure!

20:32 If you buy the regular edition you get the mouth open tentacle to. With the special edition you just get a second mouth open tentacle. And mouth closed tentacle comes with both regular and special edition.

No. You get the solo open mouth tentacle with special edition. If you get standard you get an open mouth tentacle on a plug with 2 others, making 3 tentacles in total on one plug.

So I agree this bonus for the special edition is even less interesting imo if you know you already have another open mouth tentacle. Honestly, I had no idea these figures had a rubbery skin to conceal all the joints & stuff. I THOUGHT IT WAS SOLID PLASTIC!! This fig kinda empesises how plain looking venom is without the spider on his chest, the glossy finish really helps him look slimey wich is good but the emptiness is really off putting maybe if they went with more of an ultimate approach and added some tentacles and bone spikes in the tentacles it would work better
