WNEWFM 102.7 The best radio station NYC ever had
@michaelkucinski4021 Жыл бұрын
K-Rock was better in the 80s. In 82-83, I had to drive from Colonia, NJ to West Windsor, NJ five days a week. The Philadelphia stations I listened to in the car were better than the NYC stations. When I was at home, I listened to WNEW and WDHA from Dover, NJ.

I grew up on Long Island, NY and listened to WNEW-FM all the time, best rock station in those days! Remember listening to this cranked up loud in my bedroom, I was 16 and in 10th grade at the time. Dad asked me to turn it down- yeah right, for about a minute!☺

Saw Hot Tuna at a venue so small, they had to book the show as Cold Salmon. Didn't fool me though, as soon as I saw Cold Salmon, I knew who was playing.

Rock me baby, I saw Hot Tuna at the Academy of Music around this time, when they played this song the whole building rocked, my ears are still ringing.

The Academy of Music became the Palladium.

It was called the Academy of Music when I saw Tuna there in 1973. By 1976 the name had become the Palladium. Great venue, saw many shows there. Loved the fact that they often offered both early and late shows. When Hot Tuna played there, I purchased tickets for both shows and made a long night of it. Those were the daze!

I saw them April of that year in Washington D.C.. They were extremely loud and I have talked to others who saw during the 1970s who report that H.T. were loud as Hell. I recall that Jack was shredding his bass cabinets.

Those days we'd go over to Brooklyn, a friends house and catch every show on that weekend. Every year we went back for more of the same. All together I saw HFT over 35 thirty five times. A Thanksgiving weekend would take at least four days to get "Unshell Shocked". "Jorma Wails and Jack Sails".

Well … It depends whether the simulcast was the early or the late show . The early show was almost 3 1/2 hours and the late show was about 5 1/2 hours long . So … 9 hours total !!
