Great memories. I was fortunate to see a ton of Palladium, Beacon Theater, Bottom Line and tri-state area shows between 75 to 80. Tuna, Zappa, Dead, Jeff Beck, Santana and a bunch of blues and fusion stuff. Still have the stubs.

Paul, I very much enjoyed this offering. I’m used to you doing well. The vocals are particularly engaging. Actually, so is the playing! Keep ‘em coming (even if they are “classics”)!

Saw Hot Tuna at a venue so small, they had to book the show as Cold Salmon. Didn't fool me though, as soon as I saw Cold Salmon, I knew who was playing.

Excellent. The one difference from the Quah album is that the original has two guitars, yes? The title comes from Jorma not having a title on the day he recorded it. A recording officer asked, "What's the title of this new song?" Jorma replied something like, "No title yet. I'll let you know before I leave."
@pjk
@pjk Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, on the album it is a guitar duet with Tom Hobson. And you got the story about the title correct. 😀

@@pjk Thanks for the reply. I was in love with the Quah album by 1975 when I was a teen, and I tried to master this song on my own guitar (you beat me there--I was not so smooth). Curious: Jorma recorded it and then left it alone (revived once or twice?). He didn't play it live very often , and I saw many of his San Francisco shows at the Old Waldorf around 1977-1979. The song didn't seem to interest him after he recorded it though I see there's a youtube video of Jorma doing it live around 2003. Quah has about 4-5 numbers that are amazing. Not the ones with Tom Hobson singing. That album was supposed to be half Tom Hobson and half Jorma, but Tom Hobson wasn't in the same league, so the album took a different course.

@@timgracyk Hey Tim! Jorma does play the song live now on occasion. I was 15 years old in 1975 when I first heard Quah. I became obsessed with Fingerpicking and by the summer of 1976, I picked up the guitar and spent countless hours with the album moving the needle back and trying to figure out the songs. If you go to my channel you will see that I play a bunch of songs off of quah. Back in 1998, Jorma opened up a guitar camp called the Fur Peace Ranch. I started going out there one weekend a year to study with Jorma and have been doing that ever since. Here is a clip of me playing one of Jorma's songs, with Jorma ... kzbin.info/www/bejne/aofdgqmwYtGta80&ab_channel=PaulKarp And here are a couple of tunes from Quah: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pae1hn2fjbaMsJI&ab_channel=PaulKarp kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3zGXnyBbbB0p6M&ab_channel=PaulKarp

Well done! I had been watching an old Neil Young solo acoustic performance. Cortez The Killer… just Neil and his 12 string. I left the room but was half way listening, then I heard something I I had never heard him do before, which is unusual, as I am fairly familiar with his catalogue. I walked back into the living room and lo and behold,i it wasn’t Neil! It was this video. Yes, Paul… very well done!👍

Nicely executed, Paul! I love playing this one "Jorma-fied" at gigs as well with my bass accompanist, or my dobro playing pal. We were all sitting on the porch in front of the workshop in Ohio waiting for the weekend to kick off, and Jorma pulled up and had the first test copy of "Blue Country Heart" in his hand. We all wanted a taste of it, and he said, "NO! You have to wait until it rolls out!" It quickly became a heavy-rotation CD in the changer in the house, and in the truck.
