Beautiful Bus...when I tell people how many hours I . have into my cars on all the details to keep them original and crappy looking, they are always shocked! Yes...it takes 2 or 3 times longer to build a bus like this compared to a fully restored Bus. Kudos to Hot Vw's for finally recognizing these buses for what they are worth!! They were purposefully ignored by your magazine for years. Thank you for turning the tides...and featuring these beautifully original vehicles! (Beetles too!!)

man we used that product back in the 70s to restore our finishes. TR3 was not available anymore last time I checked.

Great vid, your happiness is contagious! I found my '58 camper out in the woods, and TR3 did it's magic- even found a silver 1958 quarter down in the spare tire well!

Hard to believe not too long ago, you could buy one of these that was running & driving for a few hundred dollars. Not today! Hope to have one in my garage someday but I'm still so grateful to have my bay window bus. They are so fun to drive!

Our late father had for window covering samples he got Deek Eicel Modesto. I think it a 1968 model, I was just 16 and he let us drive it around. We tried to climb up from pavement to mud on the canal bank we almost got stuck!! We saved it some our friends jumped out!!

Good job preserving it. Now it deserves a good exterior paint job (the interior paint is perfect). Mike Fn is the man for it. 😉

My dad had a 61 VW camper, and later a 67 standard bus. What you could do to improve rear visibility, is go to Camping World and get " Vanguard" stick on plastic thing on the rear window .

If I could go back in time, be 18 in the mid 1960's and live in the mountains outside of San Francisco. I'd have a vw camper bus and a porsche 356. I'd be an assistant sound technician for the grateful dead and go to all their parties. 😁

I hate rust ! It is a lot of work ? I would do a real paint job on the old Kombi. + get rid of 40 hp . hopped up 1600 or more. I had a 67 short panel delivery van and had to get it out of the yard . I took it out to my dads and only 2 months later he had sold it and 63 bug . The bug needed a driver side floor pan but the bus had NO RUST AT ALL. It had a flare kit on it from J.C. Whitney and its motor had a hop up kit in it.Heads was decked and the cam was grinded to match the heads so you used stock length push rods . every thing now you would not do.
