I never knew about this cornmeal. I need to get this. The only thing I knew of that is premixed is Bisquick. I love cornbread with pinto beans or vegetable soup made with leftover Sunday roast. Then for dessert, cornbread with butter and molases. Why do I watch your videos when I should be going to sleep? Always makes me so hungry ha ha !!

I've heard of hot water cornbread, but never made it or had it. I have a cast iron cornbread pan, but it's shaped like ears of corn. I'm putting some WhiteLilly self-rising buttermilk corn flour (is that right?) on my grocery list. I think it's corn flour, I couldn't see. Love that crust! Just so much enjoy seeing these old timey recipes. Thanks so much. Have a blessed night XO ❤

Hi Miss Talli Faye. What a neat recipe. I have never tried that but I do have one of those pans. I used it for making scones. Neat I'll try it. It is really green here in California right now. The deer are happy where I live eating all the fresh green weeds. Karla in Cali.

I think they call it a Wedge Skillet.. They’re cast iron… We’ve always called’em a Cornbread Skillet 😊

I live in California and we don’t have white Lilly products so I order it off Amazon I use it to fry my okra but I have a question I don’t have a skillet like yours so can I just put it in my cast iron skillet I use only for cornbread ? I realize I won’t have as much crunchy but I think it would still work please let me know , thanks in advance

You can use a regular cast iron pan… like a 10.5 inch size… just put your oil in there and get it smoke’n hot!… sprinkle a pinch of cornmeal in there and pour up your batter 😊
