That amp sounds great!
@90sPunkRockCovers4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Chris! I pushed the front end with a Walrus Audio Messner light overdrive but the amp sounds really good on its own as well. I just needed lil extra push with the pedal to get closer to the original guitar sound.

@@90sPunkRockCovers sounded awesome! I had never heard of that specific overdrive till this video. Great pedal!

Indeed! One of my favorite light overdrive pedals that I've ever owned. I think it's no longer in production, but I could be wrong. Thanks again, Chris.

I like how you play major chords instead of the power chords (when you can) Hot Water Music is so unique in how they build their songs and using that A chord without muting the bottom E gives it a more Hot Watery sound........???? Like instead of a Bm, it looks like you're playing a Bm/F# or 2244 instead of x244.... Maybe you're not but when I do it with the right pedals and distortion levels and run the other guitar part as a backing track, it just feels like it's what they do to get that sound. Sometimes I think they may only be playing 224 or x24 so they don't hit that high string since the other guitar is shredding octaves or bending fills during verses and choruses. Some HWM songs are easy but some are only easy because it's been written already. I love it when bands right amazingly melodic songs that are easy to play but very difficult to write, and do it for 28 years.....and counting.... (This comment was written in March of 2022, about 2 weeks after attending a Hot Water Music, and yes, Chris may have left but Cresswell is an absolutely amazing replacement. He shreds the difficult parts on the other guitar and really pays homage to Chris' voice and style of singing. Chuck Ragan, the Godfather of HWM still brings the most insane energy to a concert I've ever seen. First song was Flight and a Crash and some drunk aszhole through an empty beer at him, and the security pounced on the guy and were about to throw the guy and and Chuck stopped and said, "Hey, don't throw him out. He's not gonna fuck up my night by throwing an empty beer can at me and I don't want his night to get fucked up during our set. Our fans know that's not what we're about." The hardcore HWM fans went nuts, and Chuck said, "Someone get him another beer and hey man, ya you, the guy who threw that empty beer can at me. If you're not a fan then that's cool, but we've been doing this for 30 years so we at least deserve respect for dedicating our lives to music for our fans." The drunk guy felt so bad and worked his way to the front with a lot of help from the crowd and shook Chuck's hand between songs and apologized, and Chuck got back on the mic and said, "I don't know if ya'll could hear what he just said, but he just said that we just gained another fan. This son is dedicated to our new fan, it's called No Division." One of the best moments in live rock concerts I've ever seen. He was there for a different band and quickly learned how badass HWM is. It was beautiful.

Hah, that sounds like Chuck alright. Thanks for sharing that story, funny thing is I have only seen them live once, a few years ago in Chicago during Riot Fest and they are from my home state (Florida). They play a lot of open chords and minors, that's kind of their thing, plus their tone doesn't have a lot of gain, more textures instead. And I agree, Cresswell was a solid addition, plus I'm a big fan of The Flatliners. Thanks for commenting my friend.
