Chris, my brother had a 72 Maverick Grabber that was blue as I remember it. You take your diecast builds to a level that makes them models and no longer just Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars. I truely appreciate you sharing your talent and skills with us. Thank You !

Thanks Chris.... Whilst I don't protest to know a great deal about US Muscle Cars what I do know is I like what I like and the whole 60s, 70s and some 80s era for these types of car I love. Most, if not all, I have never seen with my own eyes being very rare in the UK and only ever at US themed car shows. They are aonly probably Mustangs and the odd Charger at that so a Maverick to me is ultra rare! Thanks as always for watching and commenting..... I need to do another Muscle Car now.

Glad I'm not the only one who throws die cast cars in with the wife's groceries! I'd like to get in to 1:64 customising but with the range of wheels and price of them, plus setting myself up with paints and printers for decals etc, I'd be building $20-30 matchbox cars!

SidewaysKing75 Thanks I've been trying to find another one now but now people dont let them go but back in the 80s you could pick them up for $600- $800 dollars since a lot of people were getting into the euro cars , now you have companies specializing in mods for these cars .

@@danielaguero3766 I know that feeling.... Similar over here, when the cars were nothing more than rot boxes or newer, modern technology overshadowed the once king of the hill, there was a lot of bargains to be had. Fast forward to now and some of those similar priced £500 motors are fetching astronomical amounts. Again fast Ford's.

Thank you! I have both but don't always use them on everything. Newer castings like this don't warrant a polish for what I want to do but the older, knackered ones I certainly have to do. What I love the most about working with model cars, all the memories. This is perfect for me when I was high school my friend has a 68 Camaro we were uptown on the loop and a ford maverick pulled up and want to race. he laughed and we headed to the area to drag. We were in the left lane and I was the passenger. I counted down and when that maverick launched the front tires nearly left the pavement. It was a grabber with a built up 302 that car was very fast. hahha oh yes it was green also. thanks doe the great video and memory. have a great day

I just found your channel and I like your approach to reconditioning these cars. On most channels, guys use an airbrush, but I like the idea of a spray can because it's a cheaper barrier to entry and I can decide if restoring cars is for me without laying out much money. Btw, what made you go with the polycarbonate paint? Tamiya also has enamel and acrylic. I don't know much about different paint types so any help is appreciated.

Thanks Brian its appreciated. I do have an airbrush but its often such a faff for not a lot of time, so if there's a paint in a can I have I'll use it. I have plenty of spray cans stock piled from years of model building, the Polycarbonate one was simply the lairy colour I wanted for this build and no other rhyme or reason to it :) I;d used it on a plastic model and sprayed some other metal parts in the past and as long as I lacquered it afterwards it was good. I also use plenty of car body paint, as again the list is endless. Give it a go :)

Nice video. How do you do the details and trim? You must have a very steady hand. A tip for the drill vice, tape or glue leather strips to the jaws. They have enough "give" to keep from scratching the casting, but are firm enough to hold everything solidly. Keep the videos coming, can't wait to see what you do next.

Great job! I use to own a '71 Comet GT, the Mavrick's brother here in Canada . It had the V8 with automatic transmission and I had it painted Colyspo Coral ,a red ford colour. Many fond memories of that car. Your work is amazing, just found a new release of this here last month ,my next project....Thanks for the inspiration 👍
