The Gasser casting is just more *fun* overall, and lends itself to way more decorative possibilities. But I do like the “in hand” weight of the Silverado and its clean, symmetrical lines. Which one wins? It’s really in the eye of the individual collector.

I agree with all your picks except for the supers, the upgrade from the yellow to gold just elevates it more than the gasser, and the Silverado takes the win in my opinion

I can understand the Gasser, but I never understood the huge following of the Silverado. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good casting, just kind of weird how popular it is. Just my opinion

I had the Gasser winning 8-1. Honestly, the only Silverado I liked more was 1st edition. But, that’s just me. I’ll take muscle over a pickup any day, just my personal preference.

I have every Gasser released including the MEA Dinner car, so I obviously love the Gasser. However, the Silverado really has done some amazing releases. Regret not starting that collection when it was affordable. Oh, and your video brought to my attention the Dutch Courage version.....sooooo now I'm missing one. Thanks alot John! Lol

I agree with your Silverado choice. That particular model is EXACTLY what the ultra premium SHOULD be ... Lots of Chrome and really shiny, without any busy deco. This is my first year of RLC, but I find myself leaning more toward some older releases to get that Ultra Premium, ultra shiny look. If I have to pay top dollar, I want it to pop ... like that Silverado. While I like matte black on the chassis, sometimes I want chrome on those I pay more for. just my personal preference..

Tough call here. The Chevy Silverado has a certain finesse in its simple design with the clean lines, but overall i find the Bel Air Gasser to be the most interesting of the two for me. And it's amazing how much money you have to spend to get their most rare variations nowadays. But i guess we'll keep buying these, no matter how many variations they put out. Thanks for making this vid.

Here’s where I’m at. Naturally as a vehicle I prefer the Silverado over the gasser. However from a hotwheels point of view, a model car where anything goes in terms of aesthetics, I have to agree that the gasser wins. The Silverado has produced some epic concepts especially when we see the line up here in this contest. But yes overall the Silverado has the better ‘Legacy’. John hit the nail on the head with that one.

I feel ya on selling/giving away diecasts on the "cheap." I had 2 of the military rods Silveradoes and 2 of the Civics. Gave away both Civics and one of the Silveradoes. Damn you, RAOK's!!! lol. But the guys that got 'em appreciated them, so it was worth it.

Battle of the 2 most overrated RLC releases ever. Still don't get the infatuation for an 83 lowered truck with wide whitewalls. I'm probably the biggest advocate for RLC releases with whitewalls over the last 20 years. I still think that's Van's least fantastic deco he's done. The Striper is great because it's the first all metal release of a great casting, that's about it. But the finish was of the era where RLC releases were the poorest quality ever. The card art is better than the car itself for the Gasser CS. Still glad I skipped the Silverado! The best 83 Silverado is the lifted RLC model.
