It's a real shame they never showed Hotaru get along with the general public after she was revived and aged up, it would have been such a wonderful way to complete her arc just like how she was such a brighter joy.

I loved loved loved that bit! Made me want to have a Sailor Moon Gaiden episode where we can see how she got ostracized from her friends at school and how Mistress 9 really started to take over her body in her everyday life. The original voices actors for that anime were all absolutely amazing. Kaolinite’s voice is so intimidating 😮❤

And it’s also her duo supernatural natures fighting for her soul, Saturn like the other sailors in particular the outers in this version are alone and with the other sailors had something in their civilian form that made them different and an outcast, Mistress 9 takes it a step further suppresses Saturn uses both Hotaru’s body and mind to her own means. Seems like it was her destiny to be led to Sailor Moon and Chibi Moon since their pure hearts gave her strength and ultimately defeated Mistress 9 from within and awakened Saturn

土萌ほたるちゃんはミストレス９の御蔭で壮絶な学生時代を送って弱そうですが、実際は最強で筆箱も片手で潰せる程の握力を有してますし、通常は紫色の目となっている人格チェンジがミストレス９の時は目が赤色に光ってセーラーサターンの時は桃色に光るのが特徴ですからね

Damn, I wonder if this influenced Evangelion? I know for a fact baby Shinji leaning on the glass during the Unit-01 contact experiment is a reference to just before this scene.

Entirely possible. The whole reason Rei in Evangelion has her name is because Hideki Anno wanted Kunihiro Ikuhara on the writing team and so named her after his favourite character to try and get him on board, so it wouldn't shock me if there were other influences there too.
