I have a theory regarding that. Its now 2 times we’ve heard Hugh’s wife has family in Tumbleton and that she wants to move there. We also know Hugh wants them to rise in status I think it’s quite possible his wife and or daughter may meet a tragic end in the battle of Tumbleton which may push him to turn sides

I love this show. It's even got elements of romance drama, when Rhaenyra's husband fakes his death (causing extreme grief and agony to his parents and murdering an innocent peasant) to run off with boyfriend to be gay pirates sailing the seas. I don't know why I found that so funny, but thought it was great writing.

A song of ice and fire tells us that hughand ulf are both ambitious, hunger for power and desired for wealth.Both of them took part in Rhaenyra campaign and become victorious but both of them are not satisfied in rhaenyra because she promised them to make them lords or give titles.They soon betray the blacks and defect to the greens but the greens rather used them as tools against the blacks. Both Ulf and Hugh are killed during dance of the dragons by the greens.

Even I had the same thought while watching but that was probably done to see who got enough courage to stand up against Vermithor. Some even ran right in the beginning. So it was a do or die test and Rhaenyra did warn them of this before going to the dragon pit.

After a completely disgraceful season with the best character of the show off tripping in some shit hole, finally the episode we all wanted. This should’ve been episode 1/2 .. in my head I presumed at least the finale would have the big battle now after watching break down vids looks like we’ll be waiting another year before we see vernithor actually fight vhagar. No doubt there will be some juicy shit in the finale but considering the fight is completely one sided to the blacks now there’s probably going to be a betrayal. Let’s just hope it’s not verimithor .. imagine that. Vermithor and vhagar just lined up outside the city. If I was rhanera I’d be like , we had a good run on the throne. in the books both hugh and ulf betray them but my bet is that they have just Ulf betray the Blacks. Hugh has been set up as a Black for the entirety of the season, he's strong, extremely fierce and able to stand in front of the second largest dragon in Westeros with no fear, I think he will die in his fight with Vhagar if they choose to have that because we need the battle above the gods eye to happen.
