First stayed at the Del in the late 70’s. It had an old fashioned atmosphere which I loved and from memory we paid well under $100 for a room overlooking the ocean. Great memories of a great time in my life.

The Hotel Del is not in San Diego. It is in Coronado, California.

put me on the list with the famous people, I stayed at the del many times in the 1960s while hauling freight for the navy, out of North Island Naval Air Station which is located nearby.

The beach in front is not public, it’s actually a private beach.

Good to know. I guess I was confused because it's a private beach with public access. Given that anyone can use it, not just guests, I thought it was a public beach.

Yes, I laugh, because THAT would be my style. We often visited that huge hotel when I lived in CA. I love the hotel, but hope it NEVER catches fire - it is an amazing tourist attraction.
