I worked for LaQuinta Corporate back in the day before they started franchising, and long before they sold out to Wyndham. The suite you were going to stay in was originally set up to be a conference room suite. One side is the conference room, and the other side was also part of the conference room that converted into a sleeping room. Back then they had a murphy bed normally that pulls down from the wall in the sleeping room. It actually still looks like they still have the same furniture from back in the 90's when I worked for Laquinta.

Back in the 80s, when motels like this were kept meticulously clean, and were still relatively new, I can remember occasionally stumbling upon a gem like that suite, when my family was checking in late after a day of travel, and it was the last unsold room. To me, the bathrooms in the suite and the third room looked more modern, or at least nicer than the newly renovated room (even ignoring the sludge on the floor of the first room). This was the kind of motel that I liked as an only child, as I’d break away from my parents “to get ice” and explore the place. All of those ramps and bridges and the inner corridors would have kept me busy for hours. All while seeking out the rare “game room” that might have had a couple of arcade games or a pinball machine. My last LaQuinta experience was about 7 years ago, and the one thing I remember was that the shower was at around neck level, and I’m not super tall at 5’11”. All of the showers in the video appeared to be at normal height.

Yes those wraparound old florescent lights were typically only in the entrance or bathroom of motel rooms, if installed in the actual room instead of the public areas of the place.

The floor issue is glue residue I believe. Hopefully they will clean that up (and use a Little more care with the painting (really, they probably need to replace those windows anyway).

Been looking at touch less car washes near me. Two closest ones are a Laser Wash 360 or a Water Wizard 2.0. Best on your experiences “the elevator channel” which one do you think would do a better job?

Thought this was going to be a very bad one but, OMG that suite! Not sure about the bedroom though. Especially the lighting choice. My mom calls those florescent lights "interrogation lights"

years ago (July 2002) my wife and I stayed at a La Quinta by the airport in Memphis. I had never heard any bad things about them so I figured it would be decent. I couldn't have been more wrong. From the beginning it was a disaster. The workers in the lobby were sketchy and couldn't care less. We were given a 1980's era plastic punch key card. The room itself was....dark. Lights were minimally useful. One of them was unplugged, I moved something to plug it back in and found an...um...adult magazine on the floor. The lights outside at night were poor and both of us went to the ice machine, it was that sketchy. Oh and the coup de grace....the pool. Mind you it was July and 95 degrees with about 100% humidity....and the pool was GREEN. We thought about changing rooms but then I remembered the guys in the lobby. Somehow we made it thru 1 night but went somewhere else the next day

that's a totally different one. The one we went to was an original la quinta and was on airways blvd, not millbranch where the current la quinta you're talking about is. the one on airways is not a la quinta now and hasn't been for years. it was a bonafide dump. according to google street view it looks like it's apartments now
