I miss Jefferson City. 20 years ago it was a great place to live. I moved to FL after 9/11 & have no plans of moving. Keep up with the excellent videos!

I still have a few friends in the area, so I get out there a couple times per year. It always feels so comfortable going home. Nothing has really changed since my childhood.

Reminds me of the Landmark in Las Vegas, just not as flashy on the outside. Whoever is doing the renovations is doing a solid job. Great looking room, bed definitely passes. One to check out if I'm in the area.

Yeah, the group that overhauled the property back around 2007 did a fantastic job. I’m so glad they worked with the existing building rather than tearing it down and starting from scratch.

Love these old round hotels! Very nicely renovated. If you look at the Google street view of this hotel, you’ll see that a large addition was made on the ground floor to add conference space in 2008 or so (about when it was branded as a Doubletree).

There's one of these in Covington KY. It used to have a revolving restaurant at the top. People always seemed to get sick but I think it was the motion rather than the food.

Stayed here a couple years ago and had an excellent experience!

Wow, what an incredible this place building looks like!... Awesome this hotel thought. Hope you enjoyed the video, thanks for posting! Keep up the rooting, buddy for your next adventure in the future! ;)

These round hotels were built all around the country. They were not (all) Holiday Inns. We have one in Gretna, Louisiana that is identical to the one you were in, and it opened as a Sheraton around 1970. It’s now a Holiday Inn, but that didn’t happen until around 2015. One almost identical to it is across the river in Metairie, Louisiana and it has always just been “The Landmark”. There’s one in Memphis, although it’s a slightly different design…taller and it looks like a mirrored glass cylinder. It’s a Hilton now, although it started out as something else.

Fantastic review Jacob!! There’s another Circular Doubletree in Gatlinburg and a former circular HI now operating as a Radisson in Northern Kentucky kind of near CVG!

I stayed here earlier this year. The circular basement parking garage is really interesting

Jefferson City is a interesting city. That hotel is pretty neat. Looks like they're trying to fix up downtown. I wonder if that rooftop restaurant is like.

Stayed there last month for a week and a half. My only complaints are that they didn't refill the soap dispensers at all. Have to request it when it runs out. I was not the only one, several of my coworkers had the same issue. 2nd issue is no hot water on 3 separate occasions. Went to shower one night at around 9pm, no hot water. 2 days later, same thing but at around 7am. Third time it happened again, don't remember when, but the hot water was luke warm at best. Other than that, stay was alright.

I've always wanted to see the room look like since there is a rounded Holiday Inn near me in Long Beach, CA close to LGB Airport.

Wow - this is a gem! Hoping the Millennium gets a similar treatment in STL.
@TheElevatorChannelАй бұрын
@@thestlweather I suspect that property is getting torn down for something new. It’s been sitting for a decade and downtown doesn’t need 700 more hotel rooms. I don’t see an easy way to convert it to apartments either.
@thestlweatherАй бұрын
@ Good point. It’s a sad state, but STL just isn’t as big a deal as it used to be. Heck, they’ve had a time redeveloping the old Crowne Plaza - closed in 2019 as City Place.

I like when hotels have a lot of outlets so you can charge up your phone or laptop in the room instead of having to go to for example mcdonald's or big shopping mall to get work done and charge things up.

stayed there several times as a kid in the very early 1970's. Had balconies and the pool originally was on the ground floor. Raised now. Lived in later years in Charleston in the 1990's in the military.

The downside of most hotel are that they don't give you many outlets to plug in your camera gear so if you have someone else that is staying in the same room and they like filming hotels then they won't have enough outlets to plug in their camera gear to charge.
