Is it better to take a Uber or Taxi as a first time tourist? The trains really seem complicated 😂 I’ll be visiting Tokyo in 2 weeks

It is really not that complicated. You should download NAVITIME (or other Japan rail mobile app) and give it a try. It can search route based on your departure and destination. It will provide detail routing including platform information and train timing. In my opinion, Uber and Taxi is a convenience but more expensive option. In addition, language barrier may be a problem. If you are taking taxi, it will be better to write down the destination address in Japanese in advance.

I think the Taxi system is less complicated nowaday. In long past, different color of taxi charges differently. I did hail a taxi during my last trip and it is quite convenience, just more expensive than train.

The only difference is to make you confuse (I get into the wrong hotel at the first try). Haha.. There are a few APA hotels around the area. My APA hotel are closer to Godzilla Shinjuku through.

Hi, I don't think there's an escalator at Higashi Shinjuku station that comes to street level. I have two luggages. That's why I am planning to come via Shin Okubo station to this hotel.

From Shinjuku JR station, you may need to walk 15 minutes, cutting across Kabukicho.

How is the bed? I have read many people complaining about APA beds being too hard and difficult to sleep on

Bed is very subjective to person, but, I feel it is a normal bed for a hotel. It is not too soft or too hard. I had been to more expensive hotel that provide overly soft or hard bed.
