If you have to run for a beach chair at 5 or 6am, how is this a "luxury hotel"?

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! When we arrived we were told the hotel was overbooked, and they have to move us to the “family friendly” and old Riu Palace. We spoke to many staff about what happened and they all said that this is what Riu does. They can’t fill the Palace so they overbooked Antillas! There were 14 other couples that had the same thing happened to them on our arrival alone. Who knows how many more people this happened to. We paid more for Antillas but they sent us to the Palace and said we would receive a 15% refund on our total vacation. This never happened! There are too many negatives to mention and the nightly shows are absolutely terrible!

of you stay at the antillis, can u go to the other Riu?

Yes. You can go to both. You can eat at both buffets. For the specialty restaurants you must eat at the ones where you are staying

You can go to either buildings. The only restrictions are the theme dinner only restaurants. You must eat at the theme restaurant in your hotel building. You can eat at the buffet restaurants at either hotel

While the rooms are luxury, the place is too crowded and unable to accommodate all their guests. If you plan to come, better pack your own chaise or chair to sit at the pool and beach area. Also there are long lines to reserve a place for dinner at the specialty restaurants I booked here after spending a stay at their palace peninsula in Cancun a few years back which frankly was more professional and better night entertainment and offered more overall

Yeah, this is not a luxury property by any stretch of the imagination. Food is sub par, drinks are weak and rooms are run down.

@@araemoore they were doing construction when I was there last august, the place was a mess, dust everywhere, air conditioning wasn’t working, mold in the rooms, no relief from the heat even in the dining rooms where the ac was blowing hot air, the only good thing was the food which was good, no one at the hotel bothered to inform guests who booked rooms that the entire hotel; like single every floor was undergoing construction and there were jackhammers going off from 7am untill 7pm everyday. I’m sure they are finished and hopefully the newly renovated rooms are better, but the fact that they didn’t bother to accommodate or give something back to the guests who had to endure a dusty construction site their entire stay says a lot about riu, I will never stay at RIU hotel after my experience
