I had been wanting to order s compact guitar head, and was looking at this one, the Valetron, the Electro Harmonic 5MM, the Mooer Baby Bomb,band even the little Orange Mini Crush, as it has an extension speaker jack. The Mojo Diamond had Been about $80 from Amazon. Came home and found the Hotone had dropped to $52! That did it!! It's on the way! I know that price drop wouldn't last. I'm a 71 year old guitar hack, and also play 3 string cigar box guitars, and like to play bluesy stuff. Play a lot of slide on these. I have a little Randall 8" speaker cabinet, and should be a good match for the Hotone. Love your KZbin channel, and am a fan of your guitar playing. Aloha from the big island if Hawaii!

Hey Shane, I really enjoy your videos, thanks for paying so much attention to producing quality content. How do you think this amp would do with a Swamp Thang; I know some speakers aren't as good in lower volume situations? I have this amp (and others), and am looking to get a good utility speaker to work with a variety of amps for recording as well as higher volume jams. The Texas Heat seems to work well here, and I'm wondering about the Swamp Thang, at least partly due to your more recent speaker shootout with these two speakers. Thanks for your time!

@@budmcnelson Really? Cause someone gave me a H B Monoprice 15 watt amp cabinet with the amp part gone. Just the 70/80 speaker and the reverb tank on bottom. I noted the same with a purple wind type.....no way to get half of gain you hear from KZbin videos.....unless you do not boost tour input signal
@mikkosutube4 жыл бұрын
most of the guitars he played had humbucking pickups..one had p90s. If you are playing with single coils, other than a really overwound rear pickup on say a telecaster, then you will get only about half the output as he is getting with the humbuckers and single coil humbucker. those single coils look like single coils with double pole pieces, but they are humbuckers. The gold guitar is being played with the front single coil and middle single coil in series, or basically a humbucker with the coils not right next to each other
@sparkyguitar00582 жыл бұрын
In the reviews on Ebay someone wrote turn all tone knobs up full to get most gain. I don't know this for a fact yet. Mines on its way. And have a 12 " Celesion speaker cab to test this theory.

@frededberg68938 жыл бұрын
Short answer: output to a speaker having high efficiency for max potential volume. More details.. Since the output of the amp is a fixed (at a given volume and/or gain setting), the actual SPL generated as 'output' (eg. audibly through the driver) is primarily governed by, and a function of, the driver itself. Of course, each driver has a set of measured parameters of it's performance characteristics: power handling, freq. range, resistance (load), etc. However, to answer your question, the parameter which is the single biggest factor in producing 'volume level' is known as Efficiency (often referenced as 'Sensitivity'). A highly efficient speaker will produce relatively high volume levels. Typically, speaker Efficiency ratings vary from about 83db on the low end upward to 103db+ on the high end. Just as point of reference, the Eminence Swamp Thang and Cannabis Rex are rated at 102db. 103db is about as it good as it gets for a production off-the-shelf guitar driver. Using 4 watt amp output as a comparison, a 86db driver will produce SPL of 92. A 103db driver will produce 109 SPL actual output. Also, please note that the output level from the amp is also affected by, and a function of the input signal level. So, if you bump your input signal up via a boost, amp emulator, preamp, etc. you will also have a hotter signal on the output side of your amp (in most cases). From personal experience, I can tell you that an inexpensive 10W solid state amp can sound amazingly loud and GOOD if you: a). preamp/boost/shape the input signal and b). output to highly efficient speaker(s). I can make my 10Watts from my setup ring your (and my) ears for quite a long time if given the chance.

LOL, thanks man! Yeah, I actually do post to some other forums. For related stuff, you can check Parts Express product reviews (been building speaker cabs and posting some reviews there) and Solid State Guitar forum (non-profit forum/enthusiasts dedicated to amplification - solid state mostly, but other related stuff too). They're a great technical resource -- great guys. Gotta run, have a great one! PS. I wish Shane would have demo'd the Mojo Diamond with loud and clean amp settings. This little beast having an effects loop and being able to output to various loads (4 ohm, 8 ohm, 16 ohm) gives it a lot of potential! I am planning to get one soon.

Levi Schubert Music I know. I like this product.
