Great video. I was suspicious the nut could be removed but everywhere it just says "loosen and tap" like the whole machine would burst into flames if removed. Removing the nut gave me the space needed to get a screwdriver in for leverage and get rid of the thing :)

Good video ..Building on the info here ... Pushing the backing plate in & down the element is hampered by lime scale on the element. I started by leavering the element forward 1cm , & as GSD321 found it was then stuck . I used a 6inch nail as a drift & a gentle hammer to drive the centre bolt in & the back plate down the element. through the lime scale. This separated the back plate from the rubber by 2cm & took the strength away from the rubber lip, Then with some lube it came out without cutting.

Don't forget to remove the rotator splint before re calibrating control module
@gsd32i2 жыл бұрын
for me and others , can you expand if possible? the control knob if that's what you were referring to, simply went on 1 way by aligning all the splines correctly. several loads later all programmes , spins etc running correctly.

Heater retention plate installed a few days ago and all working fine . Pleased to say the newly installed heating element came straight out without a fuss . 5 minute job .

I was able to remove it by tightening the nut more and more until the rubber got so deformed it popped out
@HotpointWM522 жыл бұрын
It's not fitted right the plate should stick out past the heater and should be fairly tight. I'd deffinatley change the plate on the heater or it could bounce up and catch the drum and you would be back at square one again

Thanks Chris, there were a few of the metal tabs that had snapped off, obviously over the 23 years ! and the plate was put back exactly as I had found it after I had cleaned it, albeit with a rattle!! Yup I will be putting the new support on when it arrives and I do so so hope that its a 5 minute job! Appreciate your input.
