Like I've been saying... Those 7k axles aren't up to what we do! The leaf packs just can't handle it over time. They are homeowner axles or local contractors moving equipment from jobsite to jobsite.. Unfortunately, it's just the beginning. And don't listen to these guys that are telling ya to get torsion axels. If you screw up a torsion axle, you gotta cut the whole thing out and replace it as opposed to just replacing a couple parts. You want 8k axles and 17.5-16 ply tires. The HD axle starts at 8k.. All you can do in the interim is get 14 ply tires and baby those equalizers. Don't twist that trailer with weight on it. Stock up on all trailer parts so you can service your trailer when you are home....YOU WILL CATCH ALL THESE PROBLEMS BEFORE HAND...The bushings wear out first, then it takes out everything else. Everytime you go home, you gotta rip those hubs apart and check everything out... especially 7k axles. Just sharing my experience and what it takes to stay off the side of the road. Also, you need to look up inside the equalizers and make sure the welds didn't break inside the equalizer and leaf spring hangers. I missed this my first time and broke more stuff...CHECK THOSE WELDS BROTHER! INSIDE ALL THE HANGERS!! They put one tac weld on the friction plate for the slipper spring. Again, just giving you a heads up. If anybody defends the 7k axle setup, they must have 7k axle setup.
@bryonsusedautos3 жыл бұрын
The axles where fine it was the cheap made spring pack pj uses! There isnt a problem with 7k axles lol.
@JackDBIack3 жыл бұрын
17:50 Well I'm now trailer or axle specialist but that looks like a bent axel right there.
@All-Miles-Matter3 жыл бұрын
It's not bent actually. The 7k axle is cambered. It comes bent like that...when you add weight, the axle is supposed to level out. When you go up to a 8k axle, ya get a straight axle... not cambered. HD axles actually start at 8k...thats when the straight axle begins.

Good job on doing what you felt was right ✅. Being a hotshot and trucker is not always about fixing the truck and trailer yourself, you solved the issue your way and you back on the road and that's what is important. At least you found parts! We do a bunch of camping, or "glamping" in our 5th wheel and Ive seen people get stranded for days because they cant find parts. The leaf pack isn't too bad on price so might be a good idea to grab an extra pair so you have it. One more note...ditch the standard trailer suspension and get a More Ride or Lippert Road Armor suspension, they come with grease-able bolts and brass inserts for the leaf springs plus they're supposed to improve the ride quality by a bunch. Those plastic bushing are junk and need replaced all the time! Those kits are only around 500 buck for the whole set.

It just depends on what your equipment is rated for. If your doing non cdl then you’ve got the right set up. Hey thanks for following! My truck is diesel and its 4x4. If you are leasing on to company to start then you will have to see what their requirements are for how old the truck can be. If you are running under your own authority you can make that decision on your own and age doesn’t matter.
