I'm loving Dune:War for Arrakis, but I hate it, too! I think the bigger and more minis thing has gone too far. I feel the same way about War of the Rings. It takes up so much room that it is difficult to play, if you find a place to set it up. While I realize that minis drive sales, I don't really care for them because to look really cool, they must be painted, and I don't like to paint. The other big point is that with cardboard counters instead of minis, the map could be half size, would still be big, but manageable. The publisher is called Cool Minis Or Not, but that's a lie. The only option is Minis! Rant over.😊

Thanks for commenting. I actually agree with you. I'm not a minis person for the most part...a good chunk of that is because I don't paint though. But I'm guessing the majority of board gamers don't paint as well. I'd rather have an acrylic or cardboard standee a lot of the time. Not always, but often.

@The.FrozenGamer it's also difficult with minis to tell what's what. The different base shapes help, but when you're scanning over the board to find your hero, who has a round base like the regular infantry, it doesn't immediately pop.

Out of curiosity what do the different length rectangles and cubes represent in your gaming genre? Different troop sizes?
