Yeah it’s a bit of a bummer. Even $10 cheaper at $29.95 would make a big difference. But small company with lots of dice, as you said. However, at $40 I get this game played more than a lot of my other games, as I can play it with family and non-gamers, so cost per play is very good.

What is the difference between US and UK pool? I didn’t want the US pool set because I can just find a table at a bar or at a friend’s house and play if I want. But if I realized UK pool was a thing I very well may have bought the extra set of pucks.

@@The.FrozenGamer Pretty sure it's just the ball colour. In US you get the strips and dots with numbers on, in the UK it's just red and yellow to easily differentiate the balls. You can get Carrooka spots and strip pool pucks, but you can buy 6 yellow pucks on their own. The reason I mentioned UK pool is because you have the snooker carrooka which gives you the red balls, and 1 yellow. So buying the extra yellows, allows you to turn the snooker into UK pool, by just setting up 7 yellow and 7 red with the black puck. Instant UK pool. :) The table will be larger than the smaller carrooka pool table, but it saves you buying the smaller table solely for pool & adds another dimension to the carrooka board if you just want to play pool. There's no difference in shipping on the US pucks but I thought since you have the UK Snooker, polish it off with UK pool pucks. :)

That’s awesome. My dad had the original version that I grew up with. I asked for it and Acquire when I got into gaming and they were gone. They couldn’t find them which means they probably got rid of them.

When I first bought the game many many years ago I had no idea how to pronounce the city name. Heck I didn’t even know it was a real city!! 😂 😂 😂

Good question. They provided a little Carrom powder with the purchase. “All powders are widely available to purchase online, you can try searching for “Carrom Powder” “Gliss Powder” or “Crokinole Wax Powder” and you’ll find a large selection to purchase. It may be a bit of trial and error before you find the one that suits your playing style the best.” -From Carrooka website. They have a whole section about Carrom powder there.

Thanks for commenting. I actually agree with you. I'm not a minis person for the most part...a good chunk of that is because I don't paint though. But I'm guessing the majority of board gamers don't paint as well. I'd rather have an acrylic or cardboard standee a lot of the time. Not always, but often.

@The.FrozenGamer it's also difficult with minis to tell what's what. The different base shapes help, but when you're scanning over the board to find your hero, who has a round base like the regular infantry, it doesn't immediately pop.

Out of curiosity what do the different length rectangles and cubes represent in your gaming genre? Different troop sizes?

You are 100% correct. The rules say touching the second line which is why I thought a building on the corner would be touching. But in the example in the rule book, it clearly doesn’t count corner buildings.

Let me know what you think of Wyrmspan. I do like wingspan as looking at birds calms me for some reason. But I’m interested in the new mechanisms in Wyrmspan. I’ve only played The Gallerist from Lacerda as my groups never seem to want to go that heavy. And tend to be more thematic gamers. I like this theme for Speakeasy and it’s supposed to be a bit lighter than his other games. So maybe I’ll be able to get my current group to play it. 🤔

They are such a good complimen to each other. My Crokinole board is sadly gathering dust as Carrooka is getting all the love right now, but one day we’ll get back to it. Carrooka is just so dang fun.

Yes, Salton Sea looks 🔥🔥🔥. Even though the theme seems a little dry (can a water game be dry?), I actually really enjoy that theme. Mechanisms look like it will be a great game and Devir seems to be only publishing good games these days. Did Djinn ever come out in America, I’ve never seen it or heard of it before. It is very visually pleasing from the pictures on BGG. I would love to get my hands on it. Despite doing this hot list, I love games people don’t talk much about! Those end up usually being keepers in my personal collection.

@@The.FrozenGamer djinn did release here almost 2 months ago I purchased it. It’s a nice medium weight game with just enough byte that I enjoy owning it . Devir makes solid games although White Castle was a hard pass for me seeing how boring red carhedral was. Never played bitoku though. Wanted it. I would say check out Distilled. That game is surprisingly good and the quality is excellent . I wouldn’t say djinn is a must have. But as far as 2 player goes mandala patterns is insanely good . Maybe better than the card game mandala 2 player. Salton sea is exactly what I’m looking for in a game right now. Already ordered it so we’ll see. Also know one hardly ever talked about first city magnate and that was a pretty awesome game as well. I think these days you just can’t believe the hype. I think the new dune game arrakis loooks good but my wife is over the whole space theme right now and refuses to play space stuff. I get it . I told Jamie so many times the world needed a dragon game and wallah 🤣😂🤣of course no credit given. You’re welcome board game world. I’m not buying it I want ed scary dragons 🐉

I def didn’t go over every little rule, but the rule book is top notch, IMO. My son is 6. He has been playing my games his way since he was around 3 I think. It is definitely how he learned how to count back in the day. My 4 year old daughter on the other hand has very minimal interest.

Holy moly, it means a ton that you commented, I've been watching your videos forever!! Def wait until you are ready, because it is an investment for sure. For me, as I mention in the video, it was worth it because it gets so much play compared to other big games I buy that barely get played, plus it just looks nice on the wall!
