I visited Mie Prefecture during the Golden Week of 2015 and heard this song by chance in the lobby of the ryokan we were staying in. I was a young student trying to figure out life back then and this song spoke to me. I barely spoke any Japanese and could not understand a single word of the lyrics but the melody, the instrumentals, the voice all pierced deeply in my soul. Years later, now in 2023, I still live in Japan. Life as a foreigner is tough here and there have been too many occassions where I thought about leaving, for good. But I listen to this song every now and then -- this time, understanding each word sung and having a different perspective in life as an adult -- and I return almost naturally to all the plenty splendid reasons why this country is very dear to me. If I could write a love letter to Japan, this ホウさん's piece would be the closest one.

とある町のライブでこの曲を聞いてそれからずっと探していました。当時は友達に誘われてついて行った小さなショップでのライブで曲名とかお名前とかよく覚えてなくて… やっとみつけました。10年近くかかってしまったけどまた聞けて嬉しい。
