I thought you were the leader of the Houdini tutorial club. King of the Vops.

Remap attributes is new in the adjust nodes, but it has been its own node since 18 or 18.5.

Happy to see that the tutorial maker’s club guilt is still in full effect.. to our advantage! 🙂 Honestly though Rohan, your skill as a teacher of this software is second to none. Regardless of what topics have already been covered by others, your approach to explaining these concepts is unique to you and therefore invaluable in helping others to understand the complexities of Houdini from a different point of view. I always find in learning a complex skill that you need to approach it from multiple different angles in order to understand it well enough to be able to apply it intuitively, which includes learning the same thing from multiple different sources. You could make a tutorial series on any subject that’s already been covered a thousand times and I’m sure you’d manage to present it in a way that would bring new insight to the functionality and workflow. It seems that SideFX is putting a considerable amount of focus on refining the experience to better enable not only speed of production, but easier onboarding for new users and as these workflows change there’s opportunity to help explain how one could consider using these new tools in their new forms. A perfect example is this video. While I understand attributes and their use well enough to get how these new attribute nodes could better enable my workflow, seeing how someone with your level of skill would use them gives me a completely new perspective on their power and the value of that will keep me coming back to every tutorial you create regardless of whether or not I think I really know the subject. So, thank you for all the effort you put into sharing this knowledge as you’re helping so many people learn how to better express themselves with such a powerful tool and please, keep it coming! I can attest that my pathological addiction to Houdini wouldn’t exist without your help :)

can u tell me the difference between blender procedural materials and materialX?
@rohandalvi3 жыл бұрын
There are no similarities between them. MaterialX is a material system built to work with USD, the new Pixar scene description format. Which , in theory , should make it easy to transfer USD files from one software to another with full shaders as long as both those softwares support materialX. Blender procedural materials are just procedural material in blender.

We already have the "Attribute Adjust" node that can remap attributes.
@rohandalvi3 жыл бұрын
There was a separate remap node in 18.5. now the option in built into the float node

Hey Rohan, first thing I noticed after following the tutorial : the colors are more contrasted on your viewport than mine. So I guess it's time for me to accept ACES OCIO config, right ? x)
@rohandalvi3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I'm using aces. It's a bit confusing. I'm still getting used to it
@tetsuooshima8323 жыл бұрын
@@rohandalvi yeah I tried it with Renderman and other renderers, each one have their own way to deal with ACES, it not only change the render but also change the textures you use, in the end sometimes I got nicer results AND less headache without it so I disabled it for now xD It's all very confusing I agree

I think I'm going to give up on aces too. It's more work than I'm willing to do😄
