Thank you Mo, this is the EXACT type of thing I started learning Houdini for and never found a specific tutorial for.

Best Houdini tutorials on yt! Another slapper! Also random thing - the thumbnails don’t load on y’all’s newer patreon posts like they are all just blank. The thumbnails entice me!! Keep up the banging videos!

Reminds me a lot of Erik Ferguson and his work. Great approach with vellum though. Thank you very much for sharing, you guys rock!

Great tutorial! I have a question on the Geowrangle node the value "ConstraintGeomatry" in Data binding and in Inputs tab could you explain these parameters (Myself (no read of outputs ) & DOP Data $OBJID/Geomatry) how is that only targeting only the constraints of the sphere object?
@aboldmule2 жыл бұрын
The Pim geometry source only evaluates once by the solver, on the first frame, so its constraints are not affected by the geo wrangle (he then manipulated the Pim's constraints by the configure constraint node and selecting the appropriate groups). The fluid source, being just particles, does not have primitive constraints to be affected anyways. Therefore by deductive logic the geowrangle set to primitives will only affect the Sphere source.

Another great vid Mo! But you NEVER cover the texturing/lookdev/rendering aspect!! That part is so important :-(

Hi, strangely but distgustingly beautiful. One question though. Why does the geometry wrangle only work on the spheres and not the Pim object - I watched a couple of times and couldn't work out what is telling it what to do. Does the Pim not have geometry too ?. Thanks.

Great stuff! But the way you selected the edges at 1:37, that isn't the best way to select them. What you did was select half of the edges first then select the rest of the edges, the better way to select them would be select one of the polygon edge, then hold "A" and click on the edge that's next to the one that you have selected right now, this way it'll select the whole loop in one go. Hopefully that makes sense.

22:22 I am a math dummy, I tried changing every number, in that formula and I just can't get it to every 140th frame instead of 45.

Keyframes instead worked too, of course.

Again amazing tuts. However, 19:22 why the SOP Data is $OBJID/Geometry? Can someone explain plz?

Start by watching this video. Watch the entire video as it'll illuminate a lot about Vellum. Afterwards watch similar videos by John Lynch for H18 and H19/19.5 to really grasp Vellum. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKjEk3pjr9Oob7s

Hello, first of all, thank you always for awesome tuts! I have a question - I downloaded the file and the geo wrangle vex is applied to spherestretch group. Shouldn't it be applied to spherepressure group? I'm a little confused :(

Hello ! Thank you for tutorial ! CAn you please tell your operation system and videocard drivers version ? Because i'm having error when simulating (OpenCL Exception: clEnqueueNDRangeKernel (-52). This is probably due to incorrect number of kernel parametrs.) I'm on Win 11 64 bit, 3080Ti , Laters drivers/ Rolling back to 470.31 or older did'nt help =( Thank you ! =)

Loop selection is pretty horrible in Houdini compared to XSI. Even though you can (btw) select a full loop with a double click ;). But complex "corner" edgeloops always have to be selected in multiple steps....
