Yes! What got me on Dominicans was A. Fuente! He also contributed to my enthusiasm for cigars very early on! But, what really set-off me being a full blown connoisseur was smoking my first ever COMPLEX and VERY AGED cigar! (Psst, it was a Padron!) I have never looked back since!

I love how different people's palates can be. I smoke some DR cigars and cigars with some DR tobacco in the filler, but I mostly smoke Nicaraguan, Honduran, Costa Rican, Cuban, and multi-country blends. But I also almost never buy anything with aging in mind other than Cubans cause there aren't many options and a couple others who are worth it and show marked improvement with time. There's just this mineral note I get in a lot of Dominican cigars that ruin the profile for me. What's weird is I never used to mind, it's only been these last couple of years that I've gotten to where I can't stand it lol

That’s absolutely one of the biggest aspects of what makes the hobby so interesting, how different people can taste different cigars! And yeah, that stinks you didn’t get the mineral note before, palates do change over time. As long as you’re still able to enjoy other regions, that’s what matter most 🙌🙌

So my wife is in the Dominican republic right now on a girls trip. She’s bringing me back a few cigars that she got hand rolled on the streets. But she also bought a box of five tabacalera Gil premium. It’s a white box with gold writing it’s a five pack. Matt do know or does anybody in the comments know anything about those cigars?

My B&M has the opus x lost city, and I just had one for the first time a few weeks ago and it was my favorite fuente I think I've only has that and the short story. I know opus x is their top tier cigar, what cigar falls right below it in your opinion from fuente?

You know what, I don’t think I’ve ever tried a lost city before! Have heard great things though. And I’d say for me, as far as Fuente goes…second to the opus would be the Don Carlos line. If you can find that eye of the shark vitola, that would be the best size IMO. Just an incredible cigar.
