Julie Kavner was the most successful financially over the years but she was brilliant. They are all so wonderful and it’s so sad a lot of the Rhoda cast now gone.

She was an exceptionally nice person very down to earth I can tell you she had a show on broadway quite some years ago that my Mom went to see, later she met Valerie in the lobby of the theater after the show ended and they she carried on a full conversation with her for about 20 minutes yes she was very down to earth.

I always have liked her. My dad told me once that he knew a lady that knew her. I wanted to have him talk to her and ask her to tell Valerie that i was a fan, but he said that the two ladies HATED each other, so that was that. Lol

Richard Cleveland Yep, at first I wondered why Julie was taking so long to mention she's doing The Simpsons when he asked her about any current projects she was doing. Then I remembered this interview is 1984. The Simpsons debuted on The Tracey Ullman Show in '87 & then got their own show in '89.

Rhoda was indeed a great show but not everyone liked it. Thankfully it ran for 4 1/2 seasons. People called her marriage to Joe a mistake but it wasn't. It was a plot point. She needed to experience 2 years of marriage so she could successfully return to what she did best - being single. Eventually, Rhoda did marry again...but we'd have to wait 22 years before we found that out!

I guess I missed the announcement of Valerie's death Aug. 30, 2019. She was a fine actress and a brave woman. I wonder if she already had the brain cancer at the time of this interview. I noticed her right eye is askew. I thought she outshone even Mary Tyler Moore as she matured. RIP, "Rhoda".

She was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2009(she beat that) she got diagnosed with the cancer from which she died in 2013, she was told she had 3 months to live and lived till 2019

I like seeing Julie in interviews because it’s a rarity but I don’t like seeing her uncomfortable. It’s a shame to me a person can’t just be left alone . She really just wanted to act And people wanted more from her. I’m glad she found her niche in voice work. The lime light wasn’t for her.

Maybe she was already dealing with some illnesses. She looks like she aged 15 years here instead of just 6 from the last season of Rhoda in 1978. And i agree the hair nor the clothes were doing her any favors. She did seem somewhat scattered too like she was trying hard to concentrate but just wasn't at her best...
