Fantastic, but sadly this isn't the largest organ in a church in the USA - that title goes to the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles!

You may be right there - maybe they are going by blower hp rather than number of stops - but it's still a rather impressive machine.

This performance probably happened nearly 20 years ago. At that time, there seemed to be a competition between the Crystal Cathedral and First Congregational Church of LA for the largest church organ. One church would add more pipes to their organ and, for a while, they’d be the largest church organ. Then, the other church would add pipes to their’s making it the largest organ. When the Crystal Cathedral hit on hard financial times, the competition stopped and FCCLA took over the title of largest church organ in the US and has held it ever since.

This is the largest single built church organ in the USA. The others (First Congressional + Naval Chapel) are either combinations of multiple organs or they were enlarged multiple times. That's how I understand it.

The only thing in this church that has more wind in it than the organ is dear Doc. Schuler. To bad is screwed up so badly.
