I soooo miss Peter and his great talent. I will never forget him....his early death was a terrible tragedy 😢 He was my inspiration at a young age to push forward with my pipe organ education.. Rest in peace dear man..😢

I Never knew this existed! I knew this same piece had been done by Fred Swann and Christopher Pardini. RIP Peter Baicchi! We Love You and We Miss You!

just WOW! Chesterbarns1, yes, there were two consoles, the main console in the front, just below the choir loft, and a second one sitting opposite (180 degrees) in the rear balcony which also had a place for the choir. I was at the Crystal Cathedral back around 1989 during a vacation for a normal Sunday morning service. My friend and I parked down the street since that was as close as we could get and I heard the organ playing as soon as I opended the rental car door. I could not believe it,,, it was not loud but man it sounded just amazing as any large pipe organ does when it has someone playing it well. As my friend and I approached the entrance doors to the sanctuary, which were open since it was typical, low humidity, wonderful California weather, we both suddenly heard a ROAR that was not the organ, it was the onset of the first verse of a hymn sung by the congregation and choir. As Pastor Robert Schuller would say... WOW! We went in and were immediatley escorted by a friendly usher to the second row from the front. We both smiled and instead of singing the familiar lyrics, we just stood and listened and took it all in. Of course Frederick Swann and orchestra director/arranger Johnnie Carl finished off the hymn with a common but nonetheless PHENOMENAL ending that was so typical. Reverend Schuller stepped up to the pulpit and softly spoke,, "you may be seated". I looked over at my friend and we were both in tears, I remember leaning over to him and whispering... "this is how church should feel" I love Robert Schuller and all that he did for me and God's kingdom, regardless of all the negativity that is spewed around the internet. I will never forget Robert and Arvella Schuller for their loving service! Well done good and faithful servants!

Peter Baicchi once told me that he signed up to play the organ for as many performances of the Glory of Christmas as he could because he wanted the many young people attending to hear the organ at its best. He was great & we miss him.

Peter was the best Assistant that Fred ever had. I remember at the time, (gee, over 20 years ago now) what was his 'finest hour' when Fred went on tour or vacation and Peter did the whole program himself. He had fearless, red-blooded, natural-born ability that was never self-centered. Somewhere around here I have the recordings of his hymn improvisations/anthem accompaniments. I'm sure other folks out there have them too.

Just saw your reply from 3 years ago--you ought to see if you can find the recordings and put them on YT. It would be another tribute and honor to Peter and his incredible talent.

Peter had extraordinary talent which was cut short. His Organ Under Glass CD is excellent and performed on this organ. Hopefully more videos of him will emerge either from Hour of Power or elsewhere. God bless him.

I understand Peter passed away some years ago. I think of a brain tumor. What a terrible loss. A brilliant musician and way too young.
@MusicBoi745 ай бұрын
It wasn't quite a brain tumor. His obituary talks about the "Friends of Dorothy Catholic Workers House."
