So incredible mind blowing how slow it is and able to fly so quietly
@lr216432 жыл бұрын
It's mind blowing at first, but after 5 minutes it's like watching the grass grow. Very impressive grass, mind you. I imagine it's a little more exciting if it's your own model, and you have to worry about steering, etc. Certainly I feel that way even about lesser models like EZB's, which I've actually flown.

That plane treats air like it's molasses. So slow and the prop turning that slow is amazing. It nearly feels like a lighter than air vehicle, almost.

Indoor freeflight is so much fun and requires much more skill than predictable R/C flying which can get boring after a while. Try FF Peanut scale models whether powered by rubber os CO2 motors. This is such a delightful hobby but only calm conditions are suitable. No wind.
Now, that is really beautiful..............................

@joshuawfinn Жыл бұрын
Build lots of planes, take notes and make each on better than the one before it, get advice from others, read and study the methods of experts, travel to as many flying meets as possible and push to do better each time while learning from others. Eventually you wake up one day and realize you're flying the stuff you wanted to fly. It's not easy. It's worth it.

There is some passive way to maintain the altitude?
@joshuawfinn3 жыл бұрын
Positive pitch stability. Gotta have the CG forward of the center of lift, and enough negative incidence in the stab to compensate. Most aircraft are balanced that way and then pitch trim (negative incidence) is adjusted via tab on the elevator.

I really want to make my plane so slow like this one,,, my prop goes to fast, the plane looks very agresive and its not as relaxing as this plane,could you explaine me what is the main failure of amateur when I built one of these kind plane, how do i know the FAI rubber size, how much winding, how long the rubber n so on when I wind the rubber not to much in order to make slow revolution of propeller(my assumption to slowing my prop) the plane start shaking like it has no power thank you so much
@joshuawfinn6 жыл бұрын
Rahadyan Muhammad, slow prop revs are a combination of a very light wingloading and a high pitched propeller. Also, to get a smooth running propeller, both blades must be at exactly the same helical twist and pitch angle. So you need to use a pitch calculator to do this. There are several articles on the topic in The Best of INAV over at indoornewsandviews.com. Set your pitch angle so the pitch is about 1.8 times the diameter, so 18" pitch for a 10" propeller. Then it's down to building light enough to need very little torque to turn the propeller fast enough for a good climb.

Nighthawk Gliders ama website says 23-28 May. The last two days they have glider events. Y'all should enter. Your Sandpiper 18 would do at least respectably in Unlimited Catapult, and your 12" flapper would go well in Standard Catapult.

This is absolutely incredible. Would you give me lessons and teach me how to build and fly one of these? I have only built simpler stick models before. I am an aircraft mechanic by trade, and am pretty good with following instructions, but the best is one on one instruction. I have also never seen one of these fly in person and would really like to. I am looking to open my own airplane hobby shop one day and would love any opportunity for input from experts in the hobby. I would be willing to fly out there if you could spare some time to teach me how to build and fly one of these ultra-lights.
