House Cole while a small house of the stormlands leaves a huge impact on the seven kingdoms of westeros through it one notable member. Ser Criston Cole is one of the most important figures in the build up to the dance of the dragons and plays a huge role in the rise of King Aegon ii. From his relationship with Rhaenyra Targaryen and the bitterness it resulted in would hand the Greens of Alicent Hightower a powerful ally. A feared knight, one of the best fighters of his age becoming one of the youngest commanders of the Kingsguard. For good or ill Criston Cole, The Kingmaker will forever have is place in the history of westeros.

The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. @nomorok15 Great question. I can't tell you how disappointed I was with the show version, like they get roasted by a Dragon makes sense they op oh that's it. What happened? Where's the golden skulls or at least Bittersteel's, who's this handsome guy? Where is the jolly older Harry?Where the heck is the elephants?!!!

As much as I hate the fact that Criston chose to be with the Greens and crown Aegon.....gotta give him credit, he sure was a hell of a swordsman. To challenge three men, one of which was def a badass, to a 3 on 1 is ballsy. And then to hear them decline just before you get killed is something worth going out on.

The whole point was to strip him of credit. He didn’t get to write his own heroic knightly ending by dying fighting against uneven odds. He gets intentionally shot down like a common foot soldier.

That's an interesting connection. Criston rise to prominence because Rhaenyra had the hots for him. Little Finger rose to prominence because he had the hots for Caitlyn.

Ser Criston Cole is a violent brute but is also capable of charming and devoted. A True Knight! Insulting a Knight's liege-lord is a bad idea.

If you want to know if a house is first man or andal, look at the name. First men houses have short sharp harsh names, usually based on objects - like Coal, for instance.

Nobody ever talks about the fact Daemon tried using a fucking Valyrian Steel sword it a Tourney where you use blunted weapons

I guess like in some actual historical tourneys, a knights plate armor was expected to be of good enough quality to protect them against cutting edges. Daemon would actually have been at a disadvantage as a Valyrian steel sword's weight is less than that of a regular sword, blunt or not. Knocking a fully armored opponent off his horse or off his feet would have been difficult.

in real life heraldy black circles are refered to as coals... red ones are biscuits (cookies), yellow or white ones are coins and blue ones are fountains (in the french sense, thus pools) not sure whether there was a name for green circles ... orange ones probably were called coins as well..

He's actually better than Daemon in combat... And he proved it. With a dragon, it changes the situation, but there is no achievement in beating a single man when you have a dragon.

A pretty forgotten house by the time of the current books. The Kingmaker was first spoken of by Jaimie in the 4th book AFFC. When Jaimie contemplates overthrowing Cersei he shows Ser Loras his Heraldry in the pages of The White Book(the history of The Kingsguard). Loras, despite being the son of the ruling House of The Reach, the Tyrells of Highgarden and presumably well educated, doesn't recognize it. This shows that the house is probably extinct in Westeros or, like Barristan Selmy's family, so minor that its forgotten (Kingsguard give up their family heraldry except for some token symbols on their armor).
