Danny Dance put it nicely when he said after you have a feeling for the different steps and you begin to apply them to a beat/track/song, the music will begin to make you move in a way you may not have expected and that is beautiful my friend. It is like the beat takes over your body, but not everyone can experience this and often people get lost in it so knowing some concrete steps can help give you a frame to begin with, otherwise you may fall.

I'm very happy that we've been able to keep this conversation going with such maturity. And yes, I agree with you there. I definitely believe that underneath it all, you don't need any moves to dance from your heart. And yes, some people can take it the wrong way and think that a good dancer equates to knowing all the moves. I remind people time and time again that this is not the case, and that in the end, they should follow their hearts.

Fantastic response, and a key point to understand the difference between teaching people who are new to a dance vs exploring dance with people who already feel comfortable with a certain way of moving.

I feel you, man. House dance is all about the soul and not the moves. I point that out repeatedly in some of my videos. This is a special environment for learning, and when people are learning, you can't just say "go off, feel it, don't think, just do what your body tells you" and leave it at that; you've got to have something concrete for people to grasp. Anyways, thanks for watching. :)

Hello Jardy .. I'm a bboy, i started House dance last year and i'm getting better & better mostly using your videos ... I wanted to thank you for your work .. Respect. I have some questions about this video. What is the third style called .. Lofting style ( That's what i heard ) ? And when you gave exemples you said : For Jacking Style => Heel step is the base move For Footwork Style => The looseleg is the base move And then what about "Lofting Style" if that's what it is called .. And are you going to make a video about it ? Thank you very much. Peace out

ATTABOY JARDY! It would be cool to catch up with you in a club. We have similar styles, specifically the nuances of the body and arm movements that make everyone of us unique even when doing the same dance. I think we'd feed off each other. P.S. Great structure to your teaching here... you touched on several points that other videos don't address that will help beginners progress. Using a base is the best way to learn. Learning new bases is the best way to expand. Eventually blending you bases to the point where you're just moving fluidly is that next level stuff!

Where you learn those from NYC House Community?, because we don't Jack like that in the Chi, the ( Home Of House)..and if they do.. that's the Northside style(Afro beat/Soulful House) more like tap dancing and acrobatics....most dances come from the South (Disco)and West (Trax)sides of Chicago.

I think both ways of dancing are legitimate. If you wanna really feel the music close your eyes let your body do whatever, and if you want to look cool do some practised moves. I remember so many times were i just danced my ass of in a crowd not giving a shit about people staring at me. I always feel they don't appreciate the music the way I do If you know what i mean ;)
@Ruslanbalvan13 жыл бұрын

+Edgard Orellana Well the relationship between the music and the dance are important, the first House moves were created by dancers interacting specifically with House music. You can dance to whichever music you want, but you will not get the timing, groove or feeling the same.

With that statement, you have just attempted to discredit every dancer in the world who participated in the creation of African dance during pre-history, tap in the 1800s and lindy hop in the 1930s, all of which were soulful people of color, who later in the 1980s began the creation of house dance. That's courageous, my friend. And I think you can see why I highly disagree with your statement.
