House Fossoway power grows under reign of Targaryen unlike house Peake and house Osgrey who got weaker.

Great video! A bit late to the party here, but it's worth noting that Mace Tyrells's sister, Janna, is the wife of Jon Fossoway of New Barrel, which is interesting. The green apple's are a much younger house than the Red, and I suspect the full story of the New Barrell Fossoways is one GRRM has put some thought into but never got around to revealing. After all, the houses humble origins are explained in the Hedge Knight, and for them to rise from a singular squire painting his shield during the events of the that story, to a house of enough renown that their lord is married to the sister of the warden of the south less than a century later, suggests that they made big moves in that time. My guess is: should the tales of the Dunk and Egg ever be fully written, we will find that Raymun will make a return to assist his friend once again, and whatever heroic actions he takes during the events of the Blackfyre rebellion will set his newly established house on the path to ascension.

House Fossoway, official cider provider of Matt & Shane’s Secret Podcast

Personally I think House Fossoway is a lot more powerful than we may think...the location of Cider Hall is pretty ideal and we know they generate a lot of income producing cider. The production of wine has made House Redwyne one of the richest houses in Westeros and although cider isn't the same as wine I have no doubt the Fossoways are also one of the richer houses sworn to House Tyrell. Love these deep dive videos into the lore of some of the minor houses...But and maybe this is just my personal opinion, I'm not the biggest fan of their apple sigil 😂 it's a little bit of a buzz kill.

I guess the cider market is more mainstream as compared to wine and that Fossaways would only get richer as the lower class get a bit better off over time.
@eugennemarais7304 Жыл бұрын
@@nunyabiznes33 That makes sense but I also wonder if cider is more accessible to the smallfolk, wouldn't that mean that the Fossoways are as rich as the Redwynes since there are more smallfolk than nobles buying and drinking cider...?
@nunyabiznes33 Жыл бұрын
@@eugennemarais7304 I don't think so tho. They might be rich but probably never going to be as rich as the Redwynes. Consumer taste is a funny thing. The more well off the public is, the more cider they'd buy but then eventually it'll hit a point where they finally can afford wine and start buying that instead. Like "We've made it, we deserve luxury too". Then the luxury become cheaper and become basic. How many people these days do you see still drinking cider? Meanwhile even the depressed single aunties are drinking wine. 🤣
