I would love to see you renovate a home. I don’t think tearing down a dilapidated home and building a new one would be too interesting. You have a tremendous talent for making things look so wonderful. But you need “Something” to work with. Just building a new house on an old property can be done by an architect. You need to put your amazing talents and skills into a fixer upper and show us how its done correctly and beautifully.

Land value is always a major factor no matter what the house might look like. This happens here in Australia as well. I have seen some old, run down houses sell for $500,000 here because they are standing on a big block of land in a good neighbourhood.

I live in Texas. Prices are going up, madly, because of the influx of people. Junk houses are going for over $200K, on little land. It's actually kind of sad to watch.

I loved the country cottage as well! Just wanted to caution you, there was visible water damage which means mold. I would require the home to be remediated before purchasing. Mold is no joke and can make you extremely sick.

I’m still worried about the donkey. That was obviously an abandoned property. He obviously likes and craves attention. Poor baby. I would have called aspca or a rescue. Oo also if you see a fox in the daylight stay very far away - they are nocturnal animals and if around during day they are usually rabid or sick.

It’s not really the price of the house, it’s the lot size. Also, Texas isn’t cheap anymore unless you get into rural areas where your internet can’t support a youtuber life. I mean I guess it could but you’ll be spending thousands for fiber connection.

@@karmad4491 this area of Texas near and in Fredericksburg is very touristy. I still couldn't believe the prices honestly, but its probably due to low inventory of available properties for sale if I had to guess. You can easily buy a very large and perfectly nice house for the prices she showed in this video in other parts of Texas. The housing market is very reasonable honestly depending on where you want to live.

the prices reflect everything -- the location, house and the land. For us its important to be close to my parents and the town is gaining in popularity. most houses on the market there are closer to $400-$500k.

This is fun watching you guys go through this process of buying an older home... I’ve gone through this process already in my life... I grew up in a 100 year old farm home that was always in some kind of restoration phase.(which taught me a lot) I bought my 60 year old rambler that has been completely redone and is going to be our rental after we finish our new build. I have learned a great deal through the years and their is nothing like looking at your work and thinking “I did that.” It feels good, no... it feels f-ing amazing! So take your time, have a lot of patience and you will absolutely love your outcome! I can’t wait to watch this journey. Thanks for sharing!🥰🙏🏼❤️👍🏼

As well as water damage and electrical problems. Some old houses have a lot of hidden problems behind walls and under floors. Getting a building inspection from a professional is vital before buying any property.

different places across the country/world differ wildly! i live in philly, where you can randomly get 900 square feet in an urban area (i don't have a car) for under $200k, ready to move in. plus, at least here there are programs for first-time homeowners that let you put down less than 20%. hope that restores some of your hopes!

p.s. i know people who live in suburban/rural areas will read this and think, "900 square feet is nothing!" but for a starter home it is absolutely perfect for me and my partner, and $190k was a perfect starter price for our situation :)

We got our home for 104,000. 3 bedrooms, Master bathroom, full bathroom attached garage. 2,000sq ft in Texas 25 mins from the city. It just depends on what ur looking for 🤷 ...now we want to move farther it has been growing around here n more movement.
