The last time I rented in LA I worked with a realtor and she helped me get into the apartment that I wanted. I think it is a good way to show landlords that you're a serious candidate and the relator can vouch for you behind the scenes with the landlord/other relator. Then I ended up working with the same realtor when we bought our house. She helped us so much and we recommend her to anyone who we know who is looking to buy or rent, which makes her more inclined to help us in the future. It's good to make connections like that. Everyone just wants to get ahead so they'll scratch your back if you scratch theirs. They can show you listings for places before they go public, too.

I agree with this 100 percent! you will be taken more seriously if you work with a realtor, also, you do not pay for the realtor fees as the renter. I am a real estate agent in Los Angeles and I would love to help with your search! I have some properties off market that we could go see before anyone else can get in!

A hot tip ... if you're gonna leave your car to sit for a while be sure and disconnect the battery. It takes minutes ... just disconnect the negative terminal and tuck it away so there's no "metal on metal" connection. It will save your battery and, bonus, no one will think to open it and check it when they're in a hurry trying to steal your car.

I moved from California (where I was born and raised) to Arizona about 17 yrs ago and have never looked back. Financially, living in California makes no sense. The quality of life in AZ is priceless when you’re not worried about being gouged through the roof in housing, insurance, gas prices, etc. Good luck on your future move. I've actually heard from multiple realtors that they discourage letters these days, because landlords/sellers are afraid of getting sued for discrimination if people disclose information about themselves and then can use that as a potential reason they weren't chosen. We are in the home-buying process and I really wanted to write one, but they told me not to. Obviously do what you feel is best though, every situation is different. Have you worked with a realtor at all? That could help put you a step above!

I bought those same Abercrombie & Fitch shorts because last year I loved their denim shorts so much! I have to say, the Dad shorts in curve love are my favorite! I got the light denim pair that you purchased, and I got them in black! I've already been wearing the heck out of them at work! (I work in a warehouse and it's hot AF already.) Ugh porch pirates are the worst! Where I live in Denver we’ve had so many things stolen, included sentimental gifts. It’s heartbreaking. We got a little box for deliveries to be put into near our door, and it’s surprisingly made a huge difference! Recommend that if you have space.

I’ve started looking in certain areas of California because of my husband’s job. He may get an overseas transfer and it looks like California is the place he will land. I won’t lie. The prices are scary. The extra cost-of-living allowance doesn’t really make a big difference when you’re looking at those prices. we have two boys living with us so we can’t just get a one or two bedroom and you know deal with it. Plus, we have to worry about school district and safety. Ouch. The good news is I have always had good experiences in California. Lots of good people and once you’re off the freeways it’s great with neighborhoods and everything so I’m not terrified of that. For years now, my dream is to live in Pasadena so I want to be the little old lady from Pasadena:)

I love Pasadena!! it is such a nice town and close to anything you may need without being too close to the chaos lol, make sure you work with a good real estate agent who knows the areas you would like to live in so they can guide you through the process! I have a few off market properties that I come across all the time, if you would like for me to send them to you I would be more than happy to, Also if you are buying, there are great programs that some lenders are offering to offset the scary prices, there are some downpayment assistance or credits the sellers can contribute to help you buy down the rate!

Definitely understand how frustrating it is to keep getting rejected so many times. Maybe it’s time to write a pros and cons list of living in LA. I know you mentioned you guys are not looking to buy a house but to be completely realistic you guys are practically throwing money down the drain by continuing to rent and in LA I already know the prices are outrageous. Moving back to AZ and buying a house would be such a smart move. It does not have to be your forever home but if you have the means to buy then I would absolutely do it since it’s an investment at the end of the day. You are in your late 30s which is not old but also not young anymore you have to think long term. Of course you and Drew will make the decision that is best for you and your situation but just my 2 cents. I hope you guys will decide on something that will bring you peace!

The rental and housing market is crazy! My husband and I bought our house back in 2017 and wow are we glad we bought when we did cause our house is worth atleast double what we paid at this point and people are ending up in bidding wars is crazy 😅

The housing market is absolutely crazy. We live in a small rural town. Down the street there's a house for sale that's the same size as ours, and they want $250k for it, meanwhile my husband onky paid about $90k when he bought our house.

When my husband and I bought our house, we were first rejected twice. On the third offer, I wrote a personalized letter and we were accepted despite us not being the highest offer! So, it’s definitely worth a shot. Apparently the letters (at least for house buying) aren’t as highly regarded as they were six years ago, but if I were selling or renting a house, I would appreciate the personal touch. Fingers crossed something works out for yal!!!

Shorts were really cute. One time I went grocery shopping and after carrying everything upstairs I left two items in the car. Later that night I asked my son to run down to the car and get the toilet paper and botled water I left in the car He came back and said there was nothing in the car. I thought, what do you mean? I thought to myself did I bring it in. No I didn't bring it in. Someone broke in my car and stole Jumbo pack of toilet paper and bottled water. I couldn't believe it. Some people will steal anything.

Ok I did not know a "taco bowl" existed, but my in-laws always buy the "taco" spice mix and make a dish with it, with meat and veggies and no tortillas. And they call it "tacos", I was so confused the first time they made it. I think they think "taco" means spice mix. But I guess the taco bowl is kind of similar, except it has little bits of tacos. Generally she can get a refund or replacement from the company from which she ordered. However, if you use PayPal to pay for an Etsy purchase, you can make a claim to them ... I've had them pay a few times. They are quite responsive.

Carrie, stealing mail is a Federal offense. You may be able to report the theft of your packages to the police, as well as your car break in, and have them look at security cameras and at least see who took the items. I understand your frustration. Having the anticipation of receiving something and then not getting it, is highly frustrating. I hope you at least can see who took them.

You can actually do something. You should file a police report for stolen mail. You definitely should do that and you may be able to submit to USPS and get some insurance money on all of your packages. I'm so sorry that happened to you. It's so upsetting.
