Coming here after reading about the passing of N. Scott Momaday, the author of the novel and co-screenwriter of the film. Thank you very much for posting this, I found it to be subtle and profound. I read where the author talked about his character trying to speak authentically, but finding he was unable to articulate. Not to give too much away, but for me this film is about the character gaining his voice. P.S. Whoever wrote the VHS description apparently didn't see the film. There's no "gunfight with a villainous cowboy." Otherwise though, it's quite accurate. I hope many people watch this. Cheers.

They'd be in deep crap for casting an Italian, John Saxon (RIP) in the shaman role these days!
