Still watching in 2021. Gregory House has to be one of the greatest fictional characters I have ever witnessed. Nothing sums him up better than this- "You spend your whole life looking for answers because you think the next answer will solve all your problems: make you a little less miserable, because when you run out of questions you don't just run out of answers... you run out hope."

People like me know a little too much. And maybe you know someone in your life who has the mind of a machine, like me. So knowing is not easy. That episode was quite right. Its difficult. It makes everything a lot more intricate and annoying. You tend to get allot more fatigued, by everyday life. But what if 'I could get a little more stupid?' , just enough to make things more manageable, where I can relate with the normal , everyday people? Get it?

Solid aluminum alloy in black, a deceptive over sized hook for leg sweeps, two different areas with knurled grip for shoving straight on horizontally or just a good old American baseball swing! The double sword cane is easily made razor sharp with the Schrade sharpening steel or Knife center's $2 ceramic rectangle stone! Just avoid government buildings, hospitals with it. There is a subtle brilliance about this show. Whenever a patient is introduced, the first thing the show does is objectify the patient as essentially a machine operated by chemical interactions, the way House sees people. Then the patients are humanized, they get a story, a personality. Then, as the episode enters the third act and House is on the final stretch before his lightbulb moment, the two perspectives are wielded in duality as House approaches the final answer. After the climax, the show argues with itself through the characters about which perspective is correct, objective or subjective, and this argument is never resolved, forcing the audience to think. The show has many threads to unravel, mostly philosophical in nature. I thought I’d share this one, since it’s one of the most fascinating, in my opinion.
@josephhoward4697
@josephhoward4697 3 жыл бұрын
syd bohne One of the things I also find interesting is how the show demonstrates what it’s like to truly question everything, to the point where House breaks himself out of a powerful hallucination by questioning and testing the very reality he’s experiencing. To be so sure of yourself that you can disprove the very reality in which you stand is an amazing feat, especially when your own brain is trying to cover its tracks. But it truly shows you just what it’s like to build a conclusion out of nothing. You start by questioning the basis of reality, your perception of reality, your worldview, your mindset, your conclusions. The show essentially forces you into being more self-aware by raising questions you can’t immediately dismiss. Those questions sit there and keep you thinking. It forces you to look within, making you more self-aware. Basically, the show removes the earth from under your feet and forces you to define your own coordinates. But it not only forces you to define your own coordinates. It also forces to ask what coordinates are and why you choose to define them, should decide to do so. One of my favorite things about this show, and one of the biggest things that separates it from other shows that try to be deep, is that it doesn’t ask what. It asks why. Asking what is only half the battle. You have to ask why, and then ask why you choose to ask at all. You don’t find a lot of shows that are willing to go that far.

@josephhoward4697 3 жыл бұрын
syd bohne Wow, you really do love these in-depth analyses, don’t you? For the record, while I mostly agree with your analysis, I have to disagree with you on the origins of House’s non-conformity and disobedience. The Japanese janitor incident definitely played a role in forming House’s views on rules, there’s no doubt about it. The question is how significant the incident was in shaping House’s views. For example, I’ve been a non-conformist my entire life. I’m not trying to sound cool or anything, I just never developed a need to blend in. Sometimes I’d conform, but only if it suited my will. Interestingly enough, that’s why contrarians bother me. Contrarians are fake non-conformists. Non-conformity comes from within. Contrarianism and typical conformity from the outside. But contrarians get all haughty and act like they’re non-conformists. A classic example of contrarianism vs. non-conformity is the scene where House interviews a young guy with a tattoo on his wrist. The guy tries to appeal to House’s non-conformity, and House rapidly dispatches and dismisses him. Anyways, my non-conformity wasn’t the result of some kind of incident. It’s entirely possible that House was a non-conformist right from the start. Like House, I was fairly disobedient and I always had a question for everything. It wasn’t for lack of discipline, it’s just how I was built. Don’t worry, I started getting wiser as I got older. I still ask a lot of questions and argue, but now I argue with myself instead of with whoever is telling me what to do. Not argue with myself in the crazy way, but in the way where you’re trying to figure out why the person is telling you to do a specific task, so you come up with certain possibilities and start ruling stuff out until you get an answer. As long as there’s a good reason, I’m good with it. Like I said, I’m sure the Japanese janitor incident played a role in House’s views on rules and stuff, but I think there’s reasonable enough doubt to conclude that the origins of House’s non-conformity and disobedience are inconclusive. We know it happened before House slept with Cuddy for the first time, because he was expelled for what I can only assume was something that he did. However, the exact moment House developed his issues with authority is something about which we can only speculate.
@josephhoward4697
@josephhoward4697 3 жыл бұрын
syd bohne Ah, another fellow textspeak hater! I thought I was the only one! You know what else is stupid? Emojis. I’ve hated those things since long before the stupid movie came out. If you won’t even take the time to type the word “canoe” then you honestly don’t even deserve a phone that can send texts. Honestly, it probably takes more time to find an emoji than it does to write out the damned word itself. But people act like they’re the future. They’re not the future! They make you spend more time than necessary to send your message in a manner that just makes you appear unworthy of your phone. Oh, and sometimes they can be fairly ambiguous. The canoe doesn’t always mean canoe. Sometimes it means kayak, but you wouldn’t know it unless you actually took the time to maybe figure out that the person was talking about a kayak instead of a canoe. So now, what would’ve taken three-quarters of a second to type a simple and easily understood word becomes a ten-second hunt for the icon they want to send, followed by the receiving party carrying out the largest deciphering campaign since the height of World War Two. Also, it’s funny that you mentioned the social contract episode. Listening to House and Wilson go back and forth about stuff like that is something I can relate to, especially the small talk stuff. Small talk isn’t really my thing, but I like to talk about small talk. In situations where small talk might be proper, like in an elevator or at the airport, I usually stay quiet. However, if someone asks me about the weather, they get full weather report. Mid-level jet streams, climatic oscillations and patterns, humidity, Skew-T charts, hodographs, CAPE values, lapse-rates, lifting indexes, you name it. I don’t like to usually like to point out the mistake of trying to make small talk to people, because I still like to consider myself a nice person. Instead, I just ignore the attempt at small talk and go for a marathon conversation, which teaches them a lesson in a way that makes me happy. Plus, now they know all about whatever is going on. Sure, simply cutting right through the bullshit at the risk of being called rude is probably more humane, but the humane approach would only be a lose-lose scenario. I get no satisfaction out of it, and they don’t learn cool stuff. And it’s not just weather. Pretty much any attempt at small talk is met with the same end, regardless of the topic. Oh, I did it again. I talked about small talk. Anyways, Social Contract is a perfect example of how the show likes to ask what certain things are, why they are the way they are, why do we even care, and why do we even ask why we care? It’s questions like these that make this show so great. And it’s not even like the show makes a big point out of asking these questions. It’s just dialog between two characters. The show essentially argues with itself, and we get to spectate and ask ourselves the same questions. The show doesn’t ask us to think. It’s merely expected of us. The dialogue sets up the argument, asks and answers the questions, which would’ve been enough for many people. But the really awesome part is how easy the show makes it to ask deeper questions. Pull a thread, and the rest comes with it. And, even if you’re one of those people that don’t ask questions, you still get an entertaining story. I’m reminded of the Christmas episode, Secret Santa. There were so many ways House’s mischievous plan could’ve failed. In fact, in most cases, the plan would’ve been DOA. However, once Kutner fell victim, the others quickly followed. And, even if House didn’t succeed, he’d learn more about his team, which is still a victory. However, House knew that, at the very least, Kutner would break, which may very well end up encouraging the others to follow. In addition to the philosophies this show explores and creates, it also touches on how a person is made, as well as how intrapersonal and interpersonal dynamics evolve and influence us, giving us a variety of lenses through which we view all of these topics.

So, if being a serial killer truly makes you happy, then by all means go for it. At the end of the day, the people you hurt don't matter any more than you do.

House MD was, is and always will be my favorite medical drama. House made me laugh. Wilson broke my heart more than once. Cameron left you emotional. Chase made you wonder if what you were doing was right or wrong. Foreman was a pain in the back but he always had a moral superiority to the rest. Cuddy was one drama after another. Kutner was a freak who saves lives damaging property. Thirteen was a symbolism of what awaits us all at the end of the road. Taub was living proof that you must always tell the truth. Masters was joy and shyness combined with innocence. Amber was House's breaking point.

Because once you're smart enough, you think that you don't need anyone and you see through everything. You become cold and calculating and even insensitive to other people around you. That is what makes you lonely, because at this point, no one wants to be with you.
@cholesterolkilla

Nirmit Mishra For me its because the people around me only look at the surface level of things and how it impacts them personally and immediately. No one takes the time to slow down and think about the ramifications of their actions on others, the ramifications of our actions on others. You find patterns in how people behave and the contradictions between what they say and what they do and how they don’t even realize they’re doing it. Then you realize you’re doing the same because you pretend to be this person for other people either because you care too much not to hurt them or because you dint care enough about them to show them the real you.

the best tv series of all time with the best tv character ever. house is a character that makes you laugh, get angry, live him and hate him at the same time. and what an amazing character development it started with House very well in control despite his dependence to Vicodin to latter completely loose control and become an addict. you see a big transformation of House. from season 1-4 he was a flawed hero but a hero nonthless who could be rude and very temperamental but always did the right thing and within his madness he had his own boundaries. after Kunter's death he turned into a real addict who's limits were blurred each time a little more. early seasons house would have never let Chase get stabbed, or chase would have never had incident in his bachelor party with the strawberries.

"Dying changes everything". Yes, it does. For those that say it doesn't, they're lying out of their teeth. This is what happened to my family last year when the doctors sat down with my family and told us that my mother's head-and-neck cancer was incurable, that she was terminal. A year ago, I was livid and pissed as hell. My dad was too. I could still vividly remember my mother trying to stay positive and optimistic about the prognosis, and it broke me to see her enter into that state of bargaining when you couldn't really accept what you were hearing and seeing with your own eyes. We all have this distant awareness embedded into the logical arenas of our minds that human lives don't last forever, and yet, it's paradoxical to see it hitting us the hardest when we are forced to face the consequences of our mortality. In two months, her physical and mental and emotional health deteriorated so rapidly to the point that she couldn't eat, sleep, drink, or even communicate with us anymore. Dying changes everything. It will tear you apart when you realize what House's statement will mean to you. And when you do, I hope you don't take the people in your life for granted. I was blessed with a loving, kind, patient, beautiful, and selfless mother. She battled cancer since 2016 and passed away in December of last year. I will always be blessed to have the memories I have of her and I will forever cherish her memory and do utmost best to live my life in a way that honors her. Dying will change everything in your life. I seriously hope you're not taking your life, or any of your loved ones' times in this life, for granted. I don't know what walk of life you come from, and I'm not here to judge you or what has happened to you. But at some point in your life, think of these words and make sure you heed House's statement. I've been a long time fan of House MD since the early 2000s (and I remember growing up with it because my mother and father used to watch this together on weeknights). But it took my mother dying of cancer to fully realize the meaning and the impact of these words. Life is short. It is a cliche at this point. But it doesn't mean it's any less true. Life is really short and fear will not be any bigger than you make it to be. It can't be bigger than you. So whatever it is that dream, life, goal you want? Run like the tiger and get after it. Are there still things you haven't said yet to that one you love? Get up off your ass and say it, hug them close and let them know how grateful you are that they exist, breathing the same air you breathe right now. Is there someone you've wanted to reconnect with and make peace with for years or decades now? Pick up the phone and call them, talk to them, and it maybe awkward dancing around each other, but be open to where it leads. Or is there someone you dearly loved that you just lost recently? Take your time. Cry, shout, scream, pour your heart and grief and sorrow into the earth. Take your time and let yourself grieve. Take your time to heal and let it do the rest. But eventually, you will have to get up at some point and pick up the shards of your heart and piece them together again. Don't let the shards kill your humanity, don't let it numb you. Don't do it, because I did and I'm living with the consequences of that. Life is pain, but it doesn't mean you get to be passive and refuse to do anything about it. EDIT (12/5/2022): It will be 3 years in December 11. It feels like yesterday. I just broke down today. My mom was there for the first 20 years of my life. Now I really will spend the remaining 60+ years without her. I forgot the last time I heard her voice. I'm slowly forgetting the small moments we shared. I can't handle this...

I want to watch this series all over again. I was 18 when I watched this and it really changed my entire outlook on my life. It's all because of how real, relatable and raw it depicted human beings. We're all Gregory House in some point of our lives and that's why I love this show so much.

Hold on bro. Things pass, and one day you'll get better. I used to be in a severe depression, during this one I watched the whole 8 seasons of house within few weeks, and some years after, I feel way better. You have people to who you matter, and you are worthy of being happy.

Video is highly attentive savoring tears. It is impossible to keep silent. There is a feeling that you yourself see everything that is happening. An ordinary person is not allowed to feel what Dr. House has experienced. Seeing all his sufferings, you can say that he is a real hero!

When you’re hurting inside, When you feel like a outcast, a problem, or you feel that you will never be enough, watch the video and see that people feel the Exact same way and hope to be accepted. I know I do I’m an 16 year old with Autism that gets Bullied and picked on the ways I behave, dress, or just Different from everyone else. I’m the person that has terrible Anxiety around people and make people awkward or I can’t show emotions. I’m the person who was lost friends from Suicide because the road was too hard. I feel in an daily basis that whatever I do, whatever I achieve would never be satisfied because I have still an Empty part inside of me that wants to be whole again. It feels good see this video and how many times I watch it, I see that we all have are own problems that were dealing with in an daily basis and to me it’s like someone saying to me you aren’t alone in this world. You don’t have to go on an journey by yourself and that makes an difference.

The concept of house, would be amazing for a character whos truely immortal, the constant pain, and miserables, Knowing almost everything, and not caring about most normal relationships, but being addicted to solving new questions, i swear houses personalty is the ground for the best immortal charecter in the whole histroy of fiction
