You might get broken, but after a year or two, your brain will force you to try new things, simply because it needs sensory fulfillment. You'll read books, a few pages at a time, learn the piano(before it breaks), even craft furniture, but after a billion years, you'll have memorized the locations of literally everything in the entire house. You'll try new things, break the clock to study its mechanism etc., but those too, will be memorized. You'll resort to trying things that aren't likely to have any effect, like splashing water on your sister, just to have something to do. Eventually your creativity will be destroyed, but even with 0 ideas, you'll eventually come up with one in a few trillion years. It's an eternal cycle, even if it takes a Yotta quintillion septillion septillion years; even if it takes longer than it would have for the universe to reach heat death from beginning to end, you'll *eventually* leave. Hell, even if never try, even if you go catatonic, you'll get out. You'll get out of catatonicness, by randomly having a specific train of thought, and randomly stumble unto a way to escape. That's super unlikely, of course, and I probably can't even comprehend the amount of zeroes before the one of that 0,0...01% chance; but who gives a sh*t? If you have infinite cycles, you'll eventually hit that ludicrously impossible possibility and get out. You only have to get out once, after all, and it's physically impossible to not hit a possibility if given infinite tries. You'll just go insane.

I mean there could be a sequel. Just me theorizing about how there could be a sequel but what if after the true ending the curse follows the MC and the house she moves into turns cursed. The story would then be about the MC protecting her new family from the curse. The endings could be good where she “defeats” the house, bad where she kills everyone, and a true ending where she kills herself after she learns the curse was her all along. Of course none of this is canon, but I would love it if any of my ideas are actually made into a sequel!

So I guess the message here is that, to escape a toxic household, you can't try to make peace, you can't try to hurt the people in it, you shouldn't become like them or try to turn them away from you. The only way to truly escape from a bad house, a bad family, is to just... Leave. Even if it'll sometimes hurt you, you might even lose some part of yourself in the process, but ultimately you just need to get out and leave, to start looking at the world outside of that one. Or maybe I'm reading into it too much. :v

This is one of my favorite games I've seen Manly play. It's so oddly interesting. It seems like a metaphor for an abusive family, well I guess that's kind of obvious. Like some days you can appease an abuser and they might feel guilty for a bit but then it just goes back to the same old shit. Same thing with the murder ending, some abusive parents like it when one of their kids joins in. The ending where just her escapes is what happens a lot. You can't drag your other parent away from the abusive one against their will and there's only so much you can do for a younger sibling. For some people it's too hard to even go back to that home to visit their siblings because they'd have to deal with their abusive parent. I think her losing an arm is how when you've grown up in an environment like that it always leaves a mark, maybe not physically but it affects your relationships with other people.

That was quite a badass ending. I wasn't expecting her to do that while missing an arm no less. Sadly while she defeated the house it looks like she was too late to save her family. They were already dead and were nothing more than puppets controlled by the house. Reminds me of The Witch's House and how those who fall victim to it become part of the house. Overall this was a pretty enjoyable puzzle-oriented "many deaths" horror game.

So is the true end pretty much a meta thing? After all, considering the time looping thing pulling back the mc time and time again, the old creepy dude saying along the lines "we are having so much fun, you need me" was probably a callback to the player. After murdering the dude (she did herself in a cutscene, mind you) and taking back control, mc is then pretty free from both the house and the player. Any replays after then would just her recalling past events or just dreams. Anyways, cool game

the girl tabby is stuck in a time loop; no matter whether she purges the darkness from her father, kills him, joins him, etc, she always wakes up on the same day. one of the endings hints at the "heart beating in the house"; when tabby shatters time, she can kill that heart of the house. however, the true force is that old man in the void, puppeting all the characters; the tabby doll you see is another puppet. so the old man was causing the loops for fun, much like the player. whether the "darkness" is him or just another device he used, its unclear.

Okay, I am at 12:25, but I wanna put some of my thoughts down. So I think that the family moved. Melody befriended Toby, and there may have even been a thing going on between then. So the dad killed Toby, my guess is with the shotgun. With Toby gone, Melody has become depressed. I can't figure out more, but this seems to be part of the story.

_What a beautiful day to no longer have a curse_ The doll really was the Flowey of the game. i really liked it. Theres way more to the game now than there was originally as a whole. it was nice seeing each new edition to a true ending. All those loops really do harden you. Talk about living in a monster house. I wonder if throwing water on the sister and her screaming was a courage the cowardly dog reference. i really liked the ending, with having your arm ripped off in a desperate attempt to escape from the being thats trapped you an your family and then slicing them right down the middle. it was pretty cool. i like that you could replay the game but its a dream. Really ties it together continuity-wise
