@@zero_africbasically, this Chinese diplomat is in league with other Chinese politicians and oligarchs who all “see the benefit of a free-floating interest rate”. He wants Underwood to continue publicly berating China on their tradition of having a fixed, command economy interest rate. That, in addition to the WTO ruling that is expected to somehow force China to adopt a floating interest rate, means that the diplomat’s cabal all get what they want while not being the face of what made that happen. It’s important because China is very adamant IRL on it’s fixed rate, and by having The West / WTO publicly “force” China to capitulate on the interest rate, the diplomat and his buddies get to look like the victims, while also getting away with the value of their financial holdings ballooning due to the new flexible rate.

@@BlackDiamond2718 That's what Feng wants the Americans to think, but he actually benefits personally from the lawsuit continuing. He and Tusk are using their position to manipulate Chinese and US policy to make (potentially) billions. But Underwood sees through their ploy and persuades the President to drop the lawsuit in order to pit Tusk and the President against one another.

I would obviously love to economic deals with China, so would any sane person. Meddling in their affairs is not only wrong it's pointless. All it will do is lose opportunity cost for everyone and ultimately lower consumption power which by definition hurts the development of the poorest nations who could readily rise to affluence if allowed to sell to us. We get good products at good prices, they get development. It's a win-win deal.
