You don't get mistreated at balls, well. I'm sure someone would mistreat you. But basically the difference is not declare crowns based on race, talent only. Pageants favoured white queens far more. Kind of how like today Miss USA is expected to be foreignly beautiful but still born in America. The pretty blonde days are over!

Mitch S I know the history of drag pageants. I'm glad that you do to. I didn't compare what she's done for the community to what Aja has, I compared their rants. Which are similar regardless of reasoning. But thanks for caring about the history of it all!

北村健 I mean those two statements are not mutually exclusive.
@SammyKitty924 жыл бұрын
It wasn't Crystal's fault though she showed up to compete like everyone else, but the system was rigged and she didn't want people attacking Harlow for it. And Harlow did not look her best that night at all. If you watch the documentary The Queen (which the rant is from) you can see she didn't have a proper wig (and it SHOWS) and didn't spend as much time getting ready as the other girls. Harlow was known for being beautiful, but it wasn't her best night. That night she did not equal Harlow, and Harlow winning when she probably shouldn't have was not Harlow's fault.
@Starfire109824 жыл бұрын
北村健 I mean, it’s pretty clear: Harlow’s makeup was trash, she wasn’t on theme, but Crystal didn’t want Harlow bothered because it wasn’t her fault that the judges rigged it for Harlow to win.
@treyonay4 жыл бұрын
I get the joke you were pulling, but truth, we all know that it was rigged. We all know that blacks had to lighten their skin just to compete. We all know that no matter whatttttttt Crystal wasnt going to win. If you watch the documentary, the entire thing is focused on Harlow. Yeah, you get some screen time with the other drag queens, and even less screen time with the black and hispanic drag queens, but you already know Harlow was going to win. Everything Crystal said was correct, Harlow's makeup was terrible, she didnt need to work so hard on her looks as the other queens. She was going to win. And, for Crystal to be that bold, to walk off the stage, to tell the camera men how she felt, and then say "Dont bother Harlow, its not her fault." Thats truly a queen❤👑 Stood up for whats right, and didnt blame anything but the system. Thats how the mother of Ballroom shows out darling!!!
@LegionIvory3 жыл бұрын
She was right; it wasn't Harlow's fault, because Harlow wasn't the one who rigged the competition. However, Crystal was equally right that Harlow didn't deserve to win.

Not only should Aja have won for her portrayal of the Queen Mother of the house of Labeija she was also denied acknowledgement for taking on a character and introducing her to those who had not been fortunate enough to hear her story. Much respect to Aja because she was not just playing a character she was making a statement. This seemed to have slipped into the cracks. I can't help but feel that no matter what the outcome of All-Stars 3 is I believe Aja is the winner in so many more important ways. I have never respected a queen in the ways that I have to come to respect Aja. In a short span of time she returned a completely evolved human being and performer.
