Legendary is a voguing reality competition web series, exploring the world of ball culture. It premiered on HBO Max on May 27, 2020. The series follows LGBT house members - predominantly from eight houses - as they navigate through nine balls (dancing/voguing/walking events), with a $100,000 prize for the winning house. Season 3 premiered on May 19, 2022.

I agree with Keke. I felt like the heart was there, but everything else was not, I thought how they were shading and reading the other houses would bring some heat, but they proved to be all bark and no bite. And Father Ryku and Cmonni, I just find them to be really off-putting. They gave off "mean gay" energy, impersonal, snobbish, self-important, and arrogant. This is not what I was expecting cause when Father Ryku talked about his overcoming addiction, mental health and everything and how he wanted to inspire and show people there is a light at the end of the tunnel. That warmed my heart, but they didn't give that in this performance and certainly didn't show that in his personality and interactions backstage. I wanted more from the fashion as well. I thought they would come out like something from Tron legacy or something cool like mirrors or something that symbolizes reflection and light. They tried to play off neon lights and glow in the dark, which could have been more successful, but their outfits and makeup just came off dull and lazy. Now they have technique and dance experience If this was America's best dance crew, that probably would have been decent. I know once he started doing the shoot-shoot dance and then jumped off the stage, that was the nail in the coffin. And father Ryku, said he has been a part of the scene since 05' that really caught me off-guard cause he didn't show it. If legendary continues and gets up in popularity to start doing "All-stars," and redemptions seasons would love to see how they have improved both as people and in performance. But Vinni "the light is off the bill is not paid" will forever be funny to me so at least something good came out of it.

Not sure if this is common knowledge but, the team has to audition individually to get into the show in comparison to season 1, where the parents choose the house members. I feel like production knew how new this house was and needed to fill the 10 house quota and just picked up this house with these dancers. If they were this inexperience in the performance, I can’t imagine what the audition tapes looked like. Also it’s pretty common for house to be shady to other houses during the grand march, and I sure each house said at least one shady thing about the other houses’ grand march, but the fact that mostly showed Father Ryku the most, it kinda shady on production. It really felt like a set up for production to just eliminate this house first. Also if y’all notice the other houses’ performances, most (not all) dips have a sound effect, but for this performance, not a single sound effect was used for the dips. Don’t get me wrong after seeing the performance a few times, it really was sloppy and lacking in areas, they deserved to be in the bottom. This house was set up to go home from the very beginning, and it’s sad cause this kind of production meddling wasn’t seen too much on the other seasons, it was kind of hard to tell which house was going home sometimes. Production needs to let the house parents choose the house members.

@@scry6233 it’s not an article but a podcast the HBO had that went along with season 2. In the Second episode of the Podcast with the House of Prodigy, they were talking about who is in charge of picking who gets be on the show. The podcast is called The Let Out and you can find it on KZbin and Spotify. But around the 6:30 to 8:00 minute mark they talk about how the audition process works. Not only that but Mother Erica Lanvin confirmed how it worked on season 1 on a podcast called Sibling Rivalry and Aja Labeija also confirmed this with an interviewer on KZbin.

Maybe a little voguing here and there but not enough to say this definitely a ballroom number. And that Fortnite dance later, I mean.... The first like 10 seconds where Law was clapping was pretty good, and then like yea around 30 seconds the noguing was very visible, the light concept and everything COULD HAVE BEEN GAGGY. But the entire number was very very beginner yea. A bit of the floorwork a bit of the dips were good, but there were so many slip ups and shit. And the baton was kinda sickening but like the reveal of it was underwhelming maybe they should have lit it up more or idk. It was bad, but not THAT BAD, like a 4/5.

The intro wasn't bad. But the glow sticks and stuff was where they lost me. I don't know much about casting but I have seen social media posts alluding to prominent houses not wanting to be on the show. 100k for a house of 5 members where it seems like the mother/father probably gets a higher purse for being the leader. I wouldn't do it. Spend all that time and energy just to showcase 45 secs of your house's performance. And you know if the grand prize is measly then the booking fee that they're giving the talent just for taping is also small. HBO should be ashamed. They can hand out blank checks for GoT and waste $20m shooting a failed spinoff that won't air but when it comes to the BIPOC queer stuff it's chump change. Do better.

noguing. in terms of the overall look and some of the choreography, it was creative. but it is a ballroom show and let me list these off. because before i started watching the show i was also kind of confused on why the judges gave low scores. 1. hand performance was sloppy + didn't tell a story. which IS WHAT HANDS PERFORMANCE IS SUPPOSED TO BE 2. dips were basic/looked awkward in the footage so it came off as noguing 3. from the footage alone, i didn't see any proper catwalks, so remember they're very strict on elements and the representation and entirety of it note; from what i've observed as well, seeing it from the camera's point of view vs. from a judge's point of view (literally) can give you a veryyyy different story cause you'll be able to see all the faults on the sides, no cover-ups, no editing and when you've been watching vogue performances for about a season or in ballroom in general, you'll know if someone's been voguing for a while or not at first glance. tldr; they were noguing! prime example being the catwalks, it's a very lazy variation without an understanding of the fundamentals of a catwalk, so basically a disrespectful imitation in the judges' eyes. many sloppy moments from start to finish, story didn't exactly make sense, the baton was cute but at that point leiomy was over it. it was an eh outfit, okay concept, an "uhh" performance and noguing! on that note; i have to admit, it is visually appealing.
