House of the Dead 1 Arcade - All Routes - Chapter 1 - Direct Game Capture

Been wanting to do this for a long time and finally found the time to do it. This video shows all the routes in real time for Chapter 1. I paused the video at a few locations to sync up with the joining route. This was recorded using a direct capture from my Model 2 board and stupid me forgot to set the output settings to a better resolution on OBS so I ended up recording at 496p instead of 992p. I wish I had a better program than Filmora to put this all together. Oh well. I'll make sure to put better recording settings for the next one so stay tuned for Chapter 2.

There are so many different routes you can pick or stumble on by accidents or purely based on your skills, and this is only the first chapter! I love this game, not only its replayability is high thanks to the many routes you go through, but it's also very fun to play, especially in co-op

2: 36 - Top right, you can see the rarest Zombie in the whole game. (Green Ebitan with blood coloured legs) It only appears in that specific spot, I always found that kind of interesting!

YES! THANK YOU! I decided long ago to follow every possible route based on the death screen map... That's how I discover that you can unblock the stairs at 3:27 by shooting them. But there was still one path missing... A single arrow in the middle of three paths by the end of the level, and I was unable to find that route. Turns out that Simon can knock you off the balcony by the billard room door (3:50). Mistery solved!

Nice video mate, it reminded me of a similar video series someone did years ago. They used KZbin's annotation feature to do a choose your adventure styled stage 1 of thotd. Sadly last time I checked it doesn't work properly anymore. Still thanks for the video.

I'm surprised how no one has ever attempted to make a full map of this mansion. I don't mean the Game Over map with the routes, I mean literally the layout of the mansion. The most I've seen were one or two Minecraft maps.

I noticed that you actually lose a life if the zombie that decks you down certain paths reaches you. What happens if you only even have one life when that happens? Does Rogan just splat on the ground and insta-game over?

I was thinking about doing that but I haven't found a way to mute the audio on my arcade board without muting the sfx as well. I've coded in a way to do it on m2emu but it didn't work when I made a custom ROM on real hardware.

This was played on actual arcade hardware, not on a PC or console port, and modified it to output an extra video signal to capture the gameplay.

That's because the footage IS straight from an arcade machine (at least the hardware of an arcade machine) that I own. I played through each route and compiled the separate runs into a single video.

I'm assuming this is for the original arcade version, right? If the difficulty is set too high then it might take up to 6-12 bullets depending on whether you hit him in the chest, hip, or leg.
