They did a good job of setting up people to think Daemon is the villain for much of the episode and Otto as being loyal until we saw how he moved once the King was vulnerable. I don't think he had good intentions when he suggested that Rhaenyra should be the heir and he essentially pushed Daemon out. I like how they didn't show Daemon saying "heir for a day" and I'm assuming it wasn't as malicious as Otto made it out to be. Looking back at the episode, when Viserys accused Daemon, I got a feeling Daemon was more disappointed that it seemed like Otto finally got to his brother. That's why he didn't make a huge fuss, he saw that his brother made a choice and accepted it. But yeah, I think Daemon is ruthless but I genuinely don't think he wanted to kill his brother, Rhaenyra, or his nephew to be king. Every bad opinion said about Daemon was said by Otto. He wanted to reduce Daemon's influence with each new position he gave him but when Daemon whipped the City Watch into shape he had another problem with him. Anyway, I like how these characters are gray and ultimately everyone wants something they morally shouldn't want which makes it interesting.

Agree with most of your points. Daemon was right, the council is taking advantage of the king. Otto telling the king what Daemon said seemed like a good deed from teh kings perspective but it is clearly a little finger'esq move by Otto.

“The queen who never was” was actually seen as a sign of respect that’s why Otto Hightower suggested having the Baratheon’s tongue because it was seen as a slight against the King. Most people in the realm wanted her to be queen. This is based off a completed book! It’s called Fire and Blood. It has most of the Targaryen reign written out though not just the dance of Dragons which is what this show is based off of

I doubt the common people cared. Rhaenys probably grew up on Dragonstone (as her father was the Prince of Dragonstone). And she married Corlys and moved to Driftmark before her father died. She probably didn't get to see common people much.

Yeah Tasha wasnt really paying attention to the situation the king was in in that moment. He didnt chose his son over his queen. He chose to try and save the one who had any chance, his son. The queen was dead the moment the child required a c-section. And the show explains this very clearly. Now you can blame the king for still pursuing a son after so many years and lost babies; and pushing his clearly exhausted wife to having more. Thats another convo.

Viserys didn’t choose for his family to be destroyed. The Maester told him his options were A.) His wife dies and the child lives, or B.) They BOTH die. And then they both died anyways. Viserys’ mistake was pressuring Aemma into getting pregnant again. But that was a mistake he made 9 months prior. In the delivery room he made the best call he could.

Seeing as GRR Martin wasn’t really involved in GOT past S4, we don’t know if Jons name actually IS Aegon. It could be revealed as something completely different if we ever get any more books. I’m hoping he’s a Daemon, or an Aemon Cuz I love both The Rogue Prince, and The Dragon Knight. Aegon just seemed like such a cliche name to give him in the show.

Agree. Some people hated him for it for not giving Aemma the choice over her own body, while some understood the context of his actions and even said they would allow to save their babies. I personally side with people who hated Viserys for not telling Aemma the truth and asking her permission.

The matter of an heir was the most important thing for the realm and was a greater priority than anything, and the king and queen had the duty and obligation to fulfill that. It was already known to them. So while I would agree with you in a general sense, in this context I don't think that I do.

A breech presentation isn't automatically a death sentence. It may or may not resolve naturally with physical maneuvers or "in the hands of the gods" so to speak. But i get what you mean, it's all in hindsight. She may not have been that mad at him had the son survived 😂

That is Lord Corlys of House Velaryon known as The Sea Snake. He is the best sea captain in Westeros history and has made his family even richer than the Lannisters. I’m not sure exactly how they are going about it in the show, but the Velaryons are cousins to the Targaryens and intermarry with them a lot (Aegon the Conqueror’s mother was a Velaryon). In book canon nearly all Valryians have silver or very pale golden hair

I want to point out that the King didn’t carelessly kill his wife. He was told that if they didn’t take action the mother and child would die. The Queen was going to die no matter what. Gut wrenching stuff. It’s so sad she went through that pain for the same outcome. :(

In the book Daemon actually loves his brother but views him as week and feels like he needs to preserve the family line. It has never been implied that he would ever actually cause harm to his brother but he does want to rule the realm. Can't wait until you see the alliances that are forges. The queen would have died in child birth as well as the baby. The C section was to attempt to save the baby. He didnt choose the baby over the wife. It wasnt that hard to understand.
