All Dragons of House of the Dragon Explained: • House of the Dragon: E...
House of the Dragon covers a period of time where the Targaryen's ruled and dragons filled the skies, known as the Dance of the Dragons.
The Dance of the Dragons, also known as the Dying of the Dragons, was a civil war during Targaryen rule of the Seven Kingdoms. A war of succession between Aegon II and his half-sister Rhaenyra over their father Viserys I's throne, the war was fought from 129 AC to 131 AC.
This series will have will be a feast for the eyes with amazing locations, battles and of course dragons. With a healthy dose of political intrigue and dubious alliances.

What do you think Corlys's reaction will be to the whole Vaemond situation should he survive?

I see how much the series is beginning to deviate from the book this episode. In the book Rhaenyra tells Daemon to seize Aemond, after which, she has him beheaded & feeds his body to her dragon. And King Viserys has several of Vaemond’s younger cousins’ tongues cut out for repeating the rumor of bastardy. I wonder what other changes will be made. Curious.

Two bastards will go on to continue to the Valaryon line. Adam and Alyn of Hull are the bastard sons of Laenor despite him being gay. Many believe they are the bastards of Corlys but these two bastards are dragon riders and have silver hair which means the children most likely belong to Laenor.

the "tea" that Alicent forces on the rape victim in this episode is cloudy and white. The moon tea Grand Maester Mellos gave Rhaenyra was clear and yellow. In a later scene Halaena mentions that that serving girl was supposed to help her with the children, but couldnt be found anywhere. Alicent murdured her so she couldnt tell anyone her son was a rapist.

The directors have confirmed that Alicent did NOT kill the maid it was just the contraceptive tea

I'll take another look at the episode but I think the tea being moontea has so much more weight to it than Alicent just straight up murdering the girl. Alicent breaking her morals to bail her son out is a much more engaging story beat for me.

@@loreramble how exactly does a forced abortion for a rape victim bail out her son? Noble men are not punished for raping common women, or fathering bastards, so what exactly would an abortion protect Aegon from? The only way it makes sense is if Alicent kills the girl to keep her silenced.

Still really enjoying the story as a whole, but Alicent taking the King's dying ramblings as some kind of prophetic wish feels like such flimsy set-up... She knew her husband was on his last legs, and I'm sure he has spouted a lot of confused and incoherent bullsh*t over the past 6 years, and yet suddenly she's like "ah yes, this cryptic mumbling sounds like he wants me to murder his heir" 🙄🙄

I agree, she surely should have known that he was pretty out of it. It was a bit disappointing that this will be one of the main catalyst for war. I was hoping that the conflict would erupt as a result of the actions of Rhaenyra and Alicents children. I love the idea that their feud has passed onto their children, growing out of Rhaenyra and Alicents control.

@@loreramble Exactly. Even before the king tried to make everyone kiss and make up, Alicent seemed to disapprove of Otto's disrespectful greeting party. Through her own immoral actions she seemed to have realised that life is not quite as black and white as she had once believed. Would have been much more interesting to see the two mothers willing but unable to reconcile due to the snowballing violence between their children.

Alicent knew that she never had any conversation with viserys about the prince that was promised , she would just take the dying man's words as an excuse for the deeds that she's had in her heart already , besides the final act where viserys stops breathing means he's dead ryt , no more 'young king' in episode 9 , and we have to thank the writers and directors of HOTD , I mean they really restructured the book into something more spicier , it's just amazing 🤩

Your channel is next level entertaining and informative, however, calling Alicent a hypocrite is way off! Alicent might be the only true hero in this story and we know what happens to good noble people in Westeros. Alicent used a type of Plan B pill to prevent an assaulted servant girl possibly getting pregnant, which prevents any particular problems. I don't see this as an act of hypocrisy so much as protecting one's unruly child and covering their bases! Rhaenyra continually lies about her progeny creating almost all of her problems! When Rhaenyra took the Moontea as a young woman she was averting complications, which she still made later when she had her children with Strong.

Alicent as a hero? Her heir is a rapist and she would have such a cruel and unworthy person as 👑. Plus she was against incest yet her children were wed in spite of her religion, and her grandchildren potentially inbred bastards. Absolutely and pathetically hypocritical
