There won’t be many time skips going forward. This was basically a well-made prologue to the REAL story so I’m sure the tension and intrigue will intensify next season 🙌

Agreed we definitely could’ve used more time with the charters they should’ve went for 12 episodes or had the season end with the death of Viserys like I thought they were. Another small nitpick is I wish it had it’s own theme music instead of using the one for GOT but I love it as well & can’t wait for season 2

Honestly, 12 episodes would have been amazing, but given that the traditional GOT format has been 10, I feel like your suggestion that it end with the death of Viserys would have worked better. The theme is epic, but I feel you on that. I'm really looking forward to season 2, too!

I wholeheartedly agree that the season needed another episode just as you described. I was very pleased with the show overall and I've only felt the quality dropping in one episode (ep 4 I think). I'd like to share a few of my thoughts on your various criticisms: - The showrunners only had 1 season to get us to the "Dance of the Dragons". People will get bored if it were stretched out to 2 seasons. They managed to handle the time skips well considering they show character motivation and personalities. We didn't really need to "grow" with the characters. I believe this'll happen after the dance begins and if you really think about it, who drastically changed character but Criston Cole? - I agree with your comments about Criston and Rhaenys's ageless looks. They could have made them look older. Daemon already had the looks of a middle aged man even if he were in his twenties. Some people don't change a lot with age. I noticed that Otto did become aged. BUT SER WESTERLING YOU IMMORTAL WHITE BEARDED KNIGHT WOAH. - I compelety disagree with your comments about Daemon. Yes he wanted the crown but the season showed us that not by any cost. He was willing to settle. He settled the moment he gave up his crown to Viserys. Him choking Rhaenyra also wasn't out of character for him. In his own fucked up way, he wanted her to understand that dreaming of prophecies isn't reality. He will do fucked up things to "help". Remember the time when he was captain of the guard? There are also other consistencies with his character but the comment is getting too long. - No mention of how the events that will start the civil war were misunderstandings? All in all, an awesome season that had lots of good things going for it. Also, a great review especially with how you incorporate humor and your own unique style. Obligatory fuck Otto. Hope you now see what a piece of shit he is.

Thanks for the very extensive comment, man. Really appreciate it. Some thoughts for your thoughts: - I don't think that's necessarily true; maybe you'll get bored, but I wouldn't. I've seen the same sentiment shared by many others. The events have been dramatic and suspenseful, these familial clashes and such. I think, if House of the Dragon showed us anything, it's that we don't need constant big battles and CGI dragons for a GoT series to be entertaining. It still excels just focusing on small scale interpersonal drama. So, yeah, honestly. I'm not dying to get to the Dance of the Dragons because all the drama that preceded it is as similarly entertaining. - THE GODS PRAISE SER WESTERLING!!!! - There's enough to unpack here that could get a video of it's own. But I'd like to say I don't think Daemon giving up his crown was the best example of him settling. That was also the same episode he started making moves on his brother's daughter, the future heir. There were still plans here. It wasn't the end of his ambitions, as by the end of that very episode he was asking an angry Viserys for Rhaenyra's hand, arguably another twisted attempt at getting the power he so coveted somehow. Even Viserys comments on that, as he berates him in the moment. "It's not my daughter you lust for is it? It's my throne," he says. Not long after he's also murdering his then-wife, the Lady Rhea. On top of that, the days of him being the captain of the guard were near 20 years before the choking incident. His most recent volatile outburst (not counting the slaying of Vaemond Velaryon), the murder of Rhea, was 17 YEARS AGO. So when it's been 17 years of this character being relatively tame, at least in regards to his family, it does come a little bit out of left field when he's suddenly back to his extreme nature. Even if that extremity is done in good faith. - Completely forgot to mention that, haha. Definite L there; I think they did good to avoid mentioning it in the finale when Otto came to Dragonstone. Kinda shows you that he really does not care about what Alicent thought the King wants. But yeah... Fuck all of em, man. Otto ain't any different.

I agree with you, I think like they could add 1 or 2 more episodes to let us see how the characters develop, like what they did with King Viserys that even George R R Martin is saying that this King is so much better than the one in the book, contrary of what they did with others like, as you said Leanor or the relationship between Rhaenyra and Harwin Strong.
@failureoncommand2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, exactly. Either way, hopefully season 2 will bring about more in the way of character development and such.

The age of the characters is definitely what bothers me the most. Im sure they put some effort into makeup to make the actors look younger or older than they are and I can see actors being able to pull off looking 10 years either side of their age, but some dont seem to age at all or enough during the 20 year time span of the show. It's also difficult when the Targaryens and Valaryans have white hair 😂

agreed - we needed more time to let the characters grow. the show runners treating the second half of the show as a "lets get you ready for the REAL season, season 2", left a bad taste in my mouth akin to season 7 and 8 of GOT, but we'll see.
