The acting in this episode was impeccable. Rhaenyra literally said 4 words the whole episode and you could feel exactly what she was feeling. Also when she was grieving on the beach and her dragon Syrax was feeling her pain was a little more than just feeling Rhaenyra’s pain, Syrax is the mother dragon to all of Rhaenyra’s children’s dragons

Okay let me phrase the timeline in the introduction: - Valyria's creation - Valyrians using black magic to bond with dragons - Daenys forsaw end of Valyria and Targaryens chose exile to get away from the catalyst that would occur. - Doom of Valyria - Targaryen siblings (Aegon on Baelerian, Rhaenys on Meraxes and Visenya on Vhagar) going for conquest. - Balaerian blasting Harrenhall - Field of Fire where House Gardener was destroyed and Lannisters bend the knee. - Arryns, Starks, Tullys bowing to Targaryens - rise of Targaryen dynasty - Maegor the cruel dying on the throne - Jahaerys and Alyssane rising as Maegor's successors - Jahaerys conducting the council at Harrenhall (1st scene of HOTD) - Greens vs Blacks as was prophesied by Helaena: ‘Hand turns loom; spools of green, spools of black; dragons of flesh weaving dragons of thread'

I can't claim credit for it as I read it elsewhere but someone said Helena's gasp down the stairs was her waking up to the reality of what happened. She has visions which blurs her sense of what's real and what's not. So its possible she thought everything before that moment was one of her visions until she "wakes up" holding her surviving child. (Again, I don't claim credit for this idea but it definitely gave me pause and broke my heart). My thought at the end of the episode was how will Rhaeynera react to finding out Aegon's son was brutally murdered. She had one demand to her council: I want Aemond Targaryen. I think it'll break her heart to know another mother, especially one so sweet lost, a child.

so an explanation for the murderers that killed Aegon's son was blood & cheese blood a former gold cloak & cheese a rat catcher, Aemond hiring them was the intention to get even in the case "A son for a son" and when Helaena said she is scared of the rates she meant the rat catcher meaning cheese who held a knife to her throat, and in the books anytime she says anything strange it has a significance to the story, so when she gasped she felt something which could mean a vision or a new action in the coming war will happen soon. also, since now, Aemond is the wanted criminal for Luke's death. Every loyal servant of team black will be gunning for Vhagar and Aemond that explaining why Aemond wanted to go kill them as soon as Rhaenys arrived.

I think you can watch season 5 lore video of GOT, DANCE OF THE DRAGON section where they visualize how the whole scene of Blood and Cheese played out. The kids were awake the whole time. Helaena was made to choose between both of her sons. Helaena choose the younger one (Maelor) thinking that he's too young to understand so he won't be as terrified and also because the older one (Jahaerys) was the heir to the throne. Blood and Cheese instead choose to kill Jahaerys for the exact reason for which Helaena choose Maelor. They even traumatized the young Maelor by saying that 'his momma wants him dead', before saying the head of Jahaerys right in front of him. All kids of Helaena was a horrible death in the books.

The symbolism in this show is amazing. The kingsguard is swore to celibacy. That cloak is the symbol of their oath. Alicent putting the cloak back after he just pulled his head out of her honeypot was really telling how far both of these characters had gone. BTW something to think about. Otto told Criston Cole to go back to your post which means he was on duty. Cole is the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. At night time if he is on duty I would imagine his post would be outside of the King's room. If Alicent wasnt riding Cole's Hightower he would've been able to stop them from killing that child. Once again the layers...even though Daemon is responsible for the attack he is not the only one to blame for that child's death. Personally I really prefer the book's version of the events though but I'm sure it has been mentioned in the comments already. That being said they might had a reason to go this way and they will address this scene later so I will judge them when I've seen it all I feel like thats fair. Once again I have to mention the casting team for their continued excellence for over a decade at this point. Those two guys were outstanding. This is how you stand out when you get a small part in a huge production. Just do your best, be professional and people will remember you for it. They were great. Menacing, crude, genuine, everything about them felt natural. Outstanding performance from the both of them. Really liked the episode, very well put together, beautiful shots, great lighting and creative camerawork. Movie quality throughout. The scene between Rhaenyra and Jace had me tear up. Lesser writers would've wanted more dialogue between them but Jace trying to be the best heir he could possibly be and stay professonial ends up breaking up in front of his Mom was really sweet. And she just stands up to hug him. Really nicely done. At the beginning when the time jump happens seeing Emma D'arcy was a bit jarring but she was really good and by this point I am really enjoying her as Rhaenyra, she is doing a phenomenal job. Must also mention the actress who plays Helaena. I'm pretty sure she has autism (or something similar) but that actress is doing such a great job with that character from the beginning and nobody really talks about it. Really strong start of the new season, it's so nice to see such a high quality production ( mostly talking about the writing and acting here ) I really cant wait to see the rest.

5:03 I thought it was bad that Jace came home straight away, I wanted to see more scenes of Jace in the north. The books have several moments of Jace in the north, but apparently the writers chose not to include them, it's a real shame. 5:44 Rhaenys' Scene with Daemon Eva best who plays the character Rhaenys I talk about her scene with Daemon. "When we did that in the reading and it seemed like a kind of trump card, like whoever has more power" (...) so, what he throws at her in that scene entirely reflects him and his own vulnerability and a desperate need to blame someone" "Understanding that thing about being an outsider. Those who have been mistreated, those who haven't gotten the position they were raised in or deserve, I feel like there's a deep understanding that Rhaenyra resonates with a lot." 11:03 As Rhaenyra was absent for days, it was probably the daemon who received Alicent's letters. I imagine he burned all of Alicent's letters. (I would do the same thing) I'm sure he did this the first moment he read it "Friend, how are you? How are you?🥰 I'm sorry for your son😰🤧 You know how it is, accidents happen🤷♀️ but move forward and lift your head so the crown (a princess's, not a Queen's) doesn't fall off, right lol I miss you already." (bro when Alicent speaks The fact that I sent the letters made me angry because, bro, it's only the scriptwriters who can do this shit, I hope Daemon burned all the fake letters. 14:18 I wanted to talk about Rhaenyra in the book in relation to how Lucerys' death happened. How sad Vhagar must have been, the dragon who ended her boy's life. Riding Visenya,a woman she clearly admired and then her beloved Laena. Rhaenyra clearly admired the conqueror. She wore her hair normally tied in a long braid, like her ancestor and even named her daughter after her, who unfortunately did not survive. Besides, in the book the relationship between Laena and Rhaenyra was different. They flew together, visited each other and she was with Laena in her final moments. They promised their children: Jace to Baela and Luke to Rhaena, when the boys were four and three and the girls two. How sad it must have been to think that the dragon that once belonged to a woman she so admired and was inspired by and then to such a dear friend was the very one who killed her son. 19:35 Daemon was Anxious throughout the episode, lashing out at everyone he talked to because he was worried about Rhaenyra. He probably hadn't slept for days, not knowing if she was safe. Then she came back and he did his best to comfort her. (The funny thing is that Dameon was mad at everyone and blamed everyone, but when Rhaenyra arrived he was calm with her presence) They [Daemon and Rhaenyra] have a connection that no one else on the show shares, they are almost the same person, in different bodies. Sarah Hess. Matt Smith: “[Blood&Cheese] It's love, grief and vengeance. Daemon feels it's impossible not to exact that feeling of revenge when it's in him... [Jaehaerys' death] isn't his mistake ultimately, but he does put it in motion.” 20:57 Jace's scene with Rhaenyra was very beautiful. Jace placing the crown in front of the mourning is Rhaenyra putting the pain aside to comfort. He trying to hold back to say what he managed and clinging to her afterwards. This scene is important to show that Rhaenyra raised her children in a very loving way. On the other hand, we have a mother (Alicent) who is extremely negligent and neglectful and on the other, Nyra is simply being loving towards all of her children. Seriously, they put the scene of Alicent lighting the candle for Lucerys, seriously, scriptwriters, this woman doesn't care about Rhaenyra's children, she calls hers bastards and tried to take a child's eye out and then put this ridiculous scene of hers, She called the jace and luke from savages... said he would rather die than let Helaena marry jace... spent 10 years questioning the legitimacy of the Children and putting a target on their and Rhaenyra's foreheads... but yes he does everything I felt the parallel of the wake with Alicent's fake, They are forcing too much, Alicent clearly never liked Rhaenyra's children but is called empathetic for lighting a candle at Lucerys' death... however, Rhaenyra who never had anything against Is Helaena called fake for showing empathy towards another innocent mother? Sometimes it's difficult to understand people, but she's the victim, folks.. she started the war by accident.. she sent Larys to kill Mysaria's informants by accident.. she spent 10 years preparing Aegon to be king by accident. .she questioned the legitimacy of luke/ep8 without meaning to.. she is just the victim of the patriarchy, incredible how everything they do the producers want to make accidental. "Ah, they didn't want to usurp the throne", "Aemond didn't want to kill the boy", damn what a bummer. 21:38 They didn't have Lucerys' body for the funeral so to represent him throughout his life, Jace wore his newborn clothes, Joffrey his toy as a child, Rhaenyra her clothes as an adult.

When Rhaenyra bangs Criston: "She's so empowered!" When Alicent bangs Criston: "What a ho!" Glad they're showing that Aegon II is not only a loving father(trying to be the father that Viserys I wasn't to him), but has the makings of being a good king. Just reminding people that Viserys could have stopped this if he had just loved all his children and not just his heir. He treated his boys like criminals when Aemond's eye got carved out and made no apologies or punishments to Luke for the action. Even in the penultimate episode, Aegon was sure that Viserys didn't even like him and questioned if his mother even did.(We have to see both sides, as the show is way too slanted towards the Blacks being the best(at least, until the end of this episode). If people still support Rhaenyra and Daemon after this, I'll be pissed. I support Greens and I always will just because of this.

That's your opinion and that's fine BUT does Rhaenerya even KNOW what Daemon has done? Remember, he is pretty damn secretive as well as controlling plus he keeps his cards close to his chest. Remember, she said "I want Aemond Targaryean." That's it. Point. Blank. Period. It was Aemond through riding Vaghar that killed her son. No one else. Just Aemond. But again, the arrogant ass, just has to flip the script. Killing Ageon's heir would be Daemon's idea and his ALONE!!! And that is what my instincts are telling me. I bet, once Rhanerya finds out about what happened to little Jahearys, she's gonna be PISSED!!! Her husband knew her one true target and it sure as hell wasn't a little child!!! I really, really need to see Rhanerya's reaction to the news and what she does with it. Because I want to see her put that prick in his place. It's been a long time coming and while I have always found his character fascinating and have even liked him at times, his wife, the TRUE heir of the Iron Throne, needs to put a boot up his butt and tell him to heel. Oh yes and for those who say my girl is not the true heir, you seem to forget one particularly important thing: the mighty white stag in the first half of Season 1. Remember? It was said that the white stag would only appear to the one and only TRUE, RIGHTFUL TARGARYEAN HEIR!!! And what do you know? That gorgeous white stag appeared before HER. Crispin (I can't help it!!! 😂😂😂) wanted to kill the magnificent beast but the then Princess Rhaynera told him "No!!!" And escaped, allowed to live another day. So, f*** yes, Rhanerya IS MY Queen!!! She had no idea what her husband really did and is gonna tear him into him when she finds out the truth. I have faith in her.

@@blueskybelyr Spoilers: Yes, she becomes very cruel once she ascends, going from being loved to hated very quickly. With the Traitors Walk decorated with "new heads daily", the smallfolk consider her King Maegor with teats by the time she takes the Throne. She promptly has Ser Otto and Jasper Wylde executed on taking power, ignoring Alicents offer of a great council to decide for her or for Aegon(as she figured that more people would support Aegon thanks to the hereditary laws and maybe she knew she wouldn't be chosen, though maybe since she felt she won...) Her own Lord Celtigar reinstitutes the awful taxes that his ancestor set up for ports and gates(which already does a shitload against a city affected by the Velaryon blockade). When asked to let one lady Stokeworth take power as the eldest daughter over her brother, Rhaenyra refuses her(showing she considers herself the exception to the rule)and alienated the Lady(so when she flees KL, the Lady refuses to let her even come into her castle for shelter). She also goes crazy and blames the Dragonseeds, condemning two of them as traitors after the betrayal at Tumbleton(Addam of Hull escapes and she imprisons his father Corlys for warning him and sends her Maester Gerardys away for even daring to speak in their favor, which loses her the Velaryon fleet and her "Grand Maester")and Rhaenyra also tries to order Nettles killed for being Daemons lover(Mysaria says it's so, but who knows if it's true until we get to that part), losing her two of her allies with the greatest weapon in her arsenal. Depending on who supports her, they said she either laughed or wept when delivered her nephew Maelors head and Mushroom tells a story of her whoring off Helaena and Alicent to the city, though the person who said it was Mushroom, so it's unlikely the show will include that part, as it would lose the Black Fans completely.) By the time that Helaena kills herself, though even the historian questions if it wasn't just her losing her mind or being in grief, not one of the smallfolk questions if Rhaenyra was innocent and consider her to blame for the beloved Helaenas death(and are still disgusted by the murder of Jaehaerys)and begin the riots that bring the end to the greater part of the dragons.

My guess is sir Chrispin did not want any on there because then they would know he was sleeping with the queen dowager. Technically the current queen should’ve had her own personal guard at her door light Alicent did like Rhaenyra did, especially considering she has already said she’s afraid yet Crispin, who is the head of the kings. A lot of people who read the Book Fire and Blood don't like what they did with Cheese and Blood because they changed things. I'm going to give my opinion on the whole episode, so I liked the episode but I expected more from the episode, about the blood and cheese I thought it was cool but it could be much better. I'm going to talk now about what really happened in the Book Fire and Blood. Blood and Cheese is one of the darkest moments of the civil war between the Targaryens, known as the Dance of the Dragons. After receiving information about Luke's death at the hands of Aemond, the Black Council met at Dragonstone and received a raven from Prince Daemon, who at that time was in Harrenhal. "An eye for an eye, a son for a son," wrote Prince Daemon."Lucerys will be avenged." Thus begins one of the bloodiest chapters of Dance. "Let it not be forgotten: in his youth, Daemon Targaryen was the Prince of the City, his face and his laughs were familiar to all the pickpockets, whores and gamblers of Flea Bottom. The prince still had friends in the lowest reaches of King's Landing and followers among the gold cloaks. Unbeknownst to King Aegon, the Hand, or the Dowager Queen, he also had allies at court, even on the green council... And another intermediary, a special friend whom he trusted completely, who knew the taverns and rat pits that festered in the shadows of the Red Keep, as Daemon himself had known, and moved with ease in the shadows of the city. He sought out this pale stranger then, by secret means, to enact terrible revenge." Her intermediary, as it turns out later, was (Mysaria) and she is the one who recruits Blood and Cheese, in King's Landing. Blood is described as brutish and deadly, and he had been a sergeant among the Gold Cloaks (City Guard), but was permanently dismissed for beating a prostitute to death during a drunken binge. Cheese, in turn, was the rat exterminator of the Red Keep and therefore knew all the entrances and exits of the Castle and he is the one who takes Blood to the interior of the castle, without them being seen by anyone. “Cheese knew the Red Fortress better than the shape of his own dick,” says Cogumelo. The hidden doors and secret tunnels Maegor the Cruel had constructed were as familiar to the exterminator as they were to the rats he hunted. Using a forgotten passage, Cheese took Blood to the heart of the castle, without being seen by any guards. Some say that the prey was the king himself, but Aegon was accompanied by the Kingsguard wherever he went, and not even Cheese knew of an entrance or exit from Maegor's Fortress other than the drawbridge that passed over the dry moat and its formidable iron spikes. The Tower of the Hand was less dry. The two men climbed the walls, avoiding the spearmen stationed at the tower doors. Ser Otto's quarters were of no interest to them. They went directly to his daughter's quarters, one floor below. Queen Alicent had come to live there after the death of King Viserys, when her son Aegon moved to Maegor's Keep with his queen. After they entered, Cheese tied and gagged the widowed queen while Blood strangled her chambermaid. Then they sat down to wait, as they knew that it was Queen Helaena's custom to take her children to see their grandmother every night before they went to sleep. Oblivious to the danger, the queen appeared as dusk spread across the castle, accompanied by her three children. Jaehaerys and Jaehaera were six years old and Maelor was two. When they entered the chambers, Helaena was holding his little hand and calling her mother's name. Blood blocked the door and killed the queen's guards while Cheese appeared to get Maelor. -If they scream, everyone will die - Sangue warned His Grace. Queen Helaena kept her cool, they say. -Who are you? -he asked the two. -Debt collectors -said Cheese. -An eye for an eye, a son for a son. We just want one to settle the score. We will not harm rest of you, not by a hair's breadth. What does Your Grace want? lose? When she understood what he meant, Queen Helaena pleaded for men to kill her in the place of one of her children. -A wife is not a son, said Blood. -It has to be one boy. Cheese warned the queen to choose quickly, before Blood was left I'm tired of the little girl. -Choose - he said -, otherwise we will kill everyone. On her knees, crying, Helaena chose the youngest, Maelor. Perhaps she had thought the boy was too young to understand,or perhaps it was because the oldest boy, Jaehaerys, was the firstborn and heir of King Aegon, next in line of succession to the Iron Throne. -Are you listening, little boy? -Cheese whispered to Maelor. -Your mom wants you dead. He gave Blood a smile, and the hulking swordsman killed Prince Jaehaerys, taking the boy's head off with a single blow. The queen began to scream. Strangely enough, the rat exterminator and the butcher were true to their word. They did no harm to Queen Helaena or her surviving children, but they fled with the prince's head in their hands. A scream sounded, but Queijo knew the secret passages that the guards did not, and the killers fled. Two days later, Blood was captured at the Gate of the Gods trying to leave King's Landing with Prince Jaehaerys' head in one of his saddlebags. Under torture, he confessed that he was taking the head to Harrenhal, to collect his reward from Prince Daemon. He too gave a description of the prostitute he claimed had hired them: an older woman, foreign in her accent, with a cape and hood, very pale. The other prostitutes called her Myseria. After thirteen days of torment, Blood was finally able to die. Queen Alicent ordered Larys Clubfoot to learn his name so he could bathe in the blood of his wife and children, but our sources do not say whether this happened. Ser Luthor Largent and his golden cloaks searched the Street of Silk from top to bottom and investigated and stripped every prostitute in King's Landing, but found no sign of either Cheese or White Worm. In his grief and fury, King Aegon Il ordered all of the city's rat exterminators to be captured and hanged, and this was done. (Ser Otto Hightower took a hundred cats to the Red Keep to take their place.) Although Blood and Cheese spared her life, Queen Helaena didn't exactly survive the fateful twilight. Afterwards, she did not want to eat, bathe or leave her chambers, and could not bear to look at her son Maelor, knowing that she had chosen him to die. The king had no recourse other than to take the boy from her and give him to the their mother, the Dowager Queen Alicent, to be raised as her own. Aegon and his wife began to sleep separately, and Queen Helaena sank deeper and deeper into madness, while the king raged, drank and raged." So I hate all the green people because they are all bad, the only person in the family who is good is Helaena, the rest are all rotten, poor people, he lost his son so she goes after his mother to ask for help and she ends up taking the mother having sex with her lover, what a horrible thing, I feel very sorry for Helena, she does suffer in this green family, but Aegon, Aemond, Alicent do not suffer, they are suffering, they are suffering and because the series wants to portray them as poor things, Helaena does not have love from no one in her family, they all mistreat her, Because Helena doesn't like Alicent or her brothers, you can tell by just watching all her scenes with her family, she never lets Alicent touch her.
