In House of the Dragon, Seasmoke gets a new rider who has chosen to form a link with Addam of Hull. After Laenor Velaryon pretended to be dead and fled Westeros, it was uncertain what would become of the dragon that she had flown in season one. After Seasmoke made several appearances and even went around Addam in the first few episodes of House of the Dragon season 2, it became a more talked-about topic. Seasmoke is among the unclaimed dragons in House of the Dragon, for which Rhaenyra Targaryen is searching for riders. Ser Steffon Darklyn, her first pick, is tragically killed by fire, but Seasmoke is far more accepting of Addam, going out of his way to find and pursue him. The conclusion of House of the Dragon season 2, episode 6, leaves room for interpretation, but George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood provides a clear explanation of what transpired. Seasmoke's new dragonrider is Addam of Hull, just like in Fire & Blood. Before being close to Seasmoke, Addam made very few appearances, frequently with his brother Alyn. In the cast of House of the Dragon, Addam is portrayed by Clinton Liberty as a shipwright who resides on Driftmark and is a member of the House Velaryon fleet.
