If you have dark dim winters, invest in 100 watt LED day light bulbs. You do not have to break the bank on grow lights unless you want to. Most will need light for 14 hours per day. Set them up on a plug in timer.

I use the microphone on my cell phone keyboard to type my comments that's why I become a Chatty Cathy as a video goes long! You're Brazil philodendron it's starting to look kind of crazy like mine did and I started not to like my plant because it just was weird all these long shoots everywhere. This past January I just got tired of it looking so ridiculous so I took cuttings and started to propagate the plant. To my surprise it is gorgeous now and hangs down probably as far down as your long branches are on your plant and is now as full and as Lush as can be so don't be afraid to cut it back in the spring propagate the cuttings and then watch over the summer how full your plant will get
@kathleenmurphy23795 жыл бұрын
For the winter try to get a good humidifier and get the humidity up to 60%. I have rarely been able to keep coleus plants alive over the winter and last winter I kept five mother plants alive and that was due to the humidifier getting the humidity up to 50% and 60% of time. Also if you change your light bulbs to LEDs that light helps your plants also if you got a fluorescent shop light and put on top of that plant stand the black one it would give your plants a lot more light and fluorescent lights don't cost that much to keep on all day neither do LEDs. My LED light bulb package said if you burned it for 3 hours a day per year it would only cost $ 9! And the lady I told you about Carolyn who's KZbin channel is about j a c o l y n s orchids has an amazing husband Jack. He bought those LED strip lights and he put it around the frame of her bay window and Greenhouse window to help give her Orchid some extra light. I am amazed at how dork it gets so early the further north you go but you luck out in the summer and get all those extra hours of daylight that we don't get here in Maryland in the United States. I live an hour and a half from Washington DC and Baltimore Maryland. I visited England and Ireland 10 years ago or more and I was shocked at 11 at night it was still light outside in Northern Ireland especially then the sun come up at 3 in the morning I heard the birds singing. That means all that sunlight those extra hours of sunlight help your plants grow in a way we can't get ours to grow! Yikes I just thought of something that's probably why your spider plant is So Glorious all those extra hours of sunlight it gets in the summer even though it's a North exposure!!!

That is actually a Thanksgiving cactus. The Christmas cactus have rounded edges. I would definitely pull your plants away from windows for the winter. Use grow lights and a humidifier. I live in Michigan so our winters are similar and that's what I do.

I have a Staghorn fern that is growing it's shields! It's super cool watching them grow! I got this plant in the Spring, and tried different light levels. The shields started coming in after I put it under a grow light--about a month later. You should definitely get some grow lights--they work really well. (I'm in Northern AB, so I need them--I got mine on amazon.ca) I also recommend getting an organic feritlizer You have amazing taste in plants btw! I adore the rhizomes on the Rabbit foot fern too! (the more the better!) Oh--and the Kangaroo foot fern is really sensitive to over-watering. It will be ok--just let it get dryer before watering again. I use a moisture sensor. ( The one you stick into the soil.) Hope you find the Raven ZZ--that is on my "lust list" too.

Don’t let them get hot or dried out when the heat goes on, don’t let them get a draft but move closer to the window if you can. In my experience growth arrests in winter but they hold their ground.

I hope the leaf you broke off all of your succulents be weighed on soil of one of your plants because eventually it could possibly grow a new baby plant. I have quite a few baby plants from broken succulent leaves. In fact when I go to Lowe's or somewhere if I see a broken Leaf laying around I bring it home. I had a lot of little babies this summer but I had a drought situation so all it seemed like I did was water my plants and some of the little babies didn't make it but you you can grow a whole new plant from one leaf. So if someone has a plant that you like just try to leave with them and watch them grow. Since I basically don't have anyone to talk to during the day I tend to become a Chatty Cathy when I comment watching a video so a half hour video probably takes me an hour to watch because I react to the video and write the comment down. As a teacher I always had my students pick up their pencil if I was reading a novel to them and write down what they were thinking about at that exact minute while they were listening KZbin the story. Did help with comprehension and they couldn't think about it they just had to write down exactly what they were thinking about as they were listening. It's a great thing to do with your children or grandchildren what are you thinking about now and it's surprising what comes out of their mouths or onto their paper. So I guess it's followed me and my retirement 2 commenting about people's videos. I hope you don't mind but my favorite thing on my KZbin channel is to see any comments left find my viewers. That's the best part of having a KZbin channel how people react and what they say to your little old video

Get a humidity meter first - $10 off amazon. Our humidity on the island is ideal for calatheas. I do like the reassurance of a humidity meter though. You should not need a humidifier unless you use dry heat. If you get a humidifier you could end up just encouraging mold and fungus

You have the marble Queen but the other one with the yellow might be a new variety that you have acquired. Golden pothos doesn't have the teeny tiny spots that yours has so I would take cuttings of that one and propagate it and see if it stays variegated with the gold instead of the white. I've never seen a marble Queen pothos with gold instead of white! You may have one of those so-called freaks of nature and if you do maybe you could patent it and then every time somebody sells one they have to give you money. I think that just happened to someone I watched on KZbin that maybe they're monstera was different I'm not sure if I come across that video I'll put a link here on your Channel. I just came across your channel in my news feed. I clicked like and I am subscribing. I have a KZbin channel also and if you put my name and the word orchids house plants for coleus into the search engine along with my name you'll find my channel. I just started my Channel at the suggestion of Carolyn who's KZbin channel is named after her and her husband Jack. So the name of her KZbin channel is spelled j a c o l y n orchids. She taught me how to keep phalaenopsis orchids alive! She's a very unique unique lady! She makes humidifiers out of Foggers in antique punch bowls for her orchid has a greenhouse but she keeps a lemon and orange Tree Inn she lives in Salmon Arm Canada I love her! Another person that taught me how to keep my orchids alive is Rick of Rick's orchids. He's having health problems so thank God he made all his videos so we have them to reference on KZbin. He talks about mobile and immobile nutrients and how the cells of a plant were even though he's talking about work is it also has to do with our house plants. You and your viewers to join me on my little KZbin channel it's just me and my cell phone and my under 200 houseplants take care of my new plant friend

The Hoya have in is also referred to as a crimson Queen and the way you can tell it from The Princess is the queen wears a crown so that's the white along the outside edge and the princess doesn't have a crown she has the white in the middle and the green on the outside. Your plants are all so lovely! Also your Regal Shield is very nice and full. I have one it was outside for the summer and when I repotted it after it got too big for its Nursery pot that it came in I separated all the babies from it and I've got to hurry up and get my Hundred subscriber giveaway done before it gets too cold so I need to work on that tomorrow which is Monday. I'm giving away one of her babies as my giveaway and also a Blue Hawaii colocasia but if somebody wins from out of the United States I'm going to send them something plant-related and send them some seeds from my celosia I'm from my coleus collection. So if anybody wants to enter in to the giveaway hurry up and subscribe and I'll be putting the information tomorrow on my station. And back to your Regal Shield that shine on believe not only is like velvet but it's also like moire Satin... I didn't appreciate it as much this summer when I was outside as I do now that it's inside the house and I have maybe five babies from it a various sizes their life the Russian nesting dolls ones just bigger then the next baby. I did wash mine off a little bit when I brought it in with a terry cloth wash rag and now in different places on the leaf it Weeps water droplets. I think I must have injured it when I washed it off using the wash rag. Mine is also blooming and I posted a picture of it my Instagram account which is Kathleen McBride Murphy all is one word. It has a very strange smell at night! It must be to attract the pollinator at night rather than during the day. I was going to cut the flower off but when I look up information on the internet it said it has male and female parts on the flower a little bit different than some flowers like begonias flowers which have male and female flowers... So I thought I would just leave it and maybe hand-pollinate and see if it sets seed. I probably will think about that for a while because a plant puts a lot of energy and trying to set seed and if it looks like a plan isn't doing well I'm going to cut it off. I do cut off any flowers that show up on my caladiums because it takes energy from the plant. But I do not cut the leaves off of anything in the elephant ear family until they're crispy because there are mobile nutrients in those leaves like nitrogen phosphorus and potassium that the plant reabsorbs is that leaf dies. So when the leaf gets crispy a cut that off and I cut the rest of the stem off when it gets all dried up and I know all the nutrients that could be reabsorbed back into the plant for New Leaf structure is

I am never going to cut babies off of any of my spider plants again and see if before the day I died since I'm 70 I can get one of my spider plants I have 3 to look like yours I have an all green one that was the latest purchase in May. Last year I purchase a Hawaiian spider plant and the year before that I purchase the variegated spider plant. I guess I have four I also have the Bonnie spider plant and I was researching it and found out on KZbin that if it starts to lose its curl it's because you were watering it too much so there's only one more spider plant I can think of that I don't have and that's the opposite variegation of my variegated one some have the white on the outside so I'm have the white on the inside I guess you can maybe refer to one is the queen and one is the princess just like the Hoya
